With over 100 million monthly active Office 365 commercial users, Office 365 is quite possibly the largest productivity service available. And at the Build 2017 developer conference that just kicked off in Seattle, Microsoft has announced new opportunities for developers to take advantage of.

Publishing Microsoft Teams apps through the Office Store: Starting today, developers can deliver Microsoft Teams apps through the Office Store. This, a new app discovery experience, compose extensions (for bringing info from an app or service into a Team chat), and activity feed notifications are now available in the developer preview.

Also, the Office Store is now connected to the Microsoft AppSource, making it easier for businesses to find apps. Centralized deployment of Office add-ins is currently available in preview, and will be supported on Office for Mac and Office online.

Expanded JavaScript APIs in Word and Excel: Microsoft has long planned for Office add-ins to go cross-platform; adds-in for Mac arrived first, and this was followed by iOS clients earlier this year. Today, Microsoft is previewing expanded JavaScript APIs in Word and Excel, which let developers access and extend structured data within documents. A new, integrated sign-on system integrated is also introduced. Additionally, OneDrive is adding new File Handler capabilities and SharePoint Framework is getting extensions.

New capabilities in the Microsoft Graph: Simplifying complex queries and allowing businesses to access intelligence and insights are the key draws of the Microsoft Graph. In order to provide better responses, Microsoft is now adding devices (along with people and activities) to this Microsoft Graph. In addition, the SharePoint site, OneNote, and Planner data APIs are now generally available; and new Insights APIs would soon be available in preview form. Delta queries and custom data, two new core capabilities in Microsoft Graph, are also generally available starting today.

Actionable Messages coming to more users: Actionable Messages is coming to more Office 365 users in Microsoft Teams and Outlook 2016 users in the Office Insider Program, with new integrations from Salesforce, Freshdesk, Wrike, and more.

Actionable Messages let users take quick actions right from a conversation in Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
