Meta just announced a standalone AI app for Android and iOS. Meta AI is already available across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram since 2023.
Built with Llama 4, the Meta AI app is designed around voice conversations. It will deliver responses that "feel more personal and relevant, and more conversational in tone". At launch, voice conversations are available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Meta AI app integrates with other Meta AI features, such as image generation and editing, which can be executed through voice or text conversations.

Meta claims its AI app is more personal as it draws on the decades of work done by the company in personalising users' experiences on its platforms, and using information that users have already chosen to share, such as their profile and the content they like or engage with.
The Meta AI app has a Discover feed where users share and explore how others use AI. For example, users can search for the best prompts and make their own.
For Ray-Ban Meta glasses users, the Meta AI app will merge with the Meta View companion app. Current Meta View users can continue managing their AI glasses from the Meta AI app. Paired devices, settings, and media will automatically transfer to the new Devices tab with the updated app.
Meta AI on the web is also updated with voice interactions and the Discover feed. Additionally, it is optimised for larger screens and desktop workflows with an enhanced image generation experience.
The Meta AI app is now available for Android and iOS.
