Outdated software versions are cited as one of the many reasons for the rise of cyber attacks. Users are either too busy  to update or do not know where to find these updates. Kaspersky Lab aims to solve this problem with the launch of its official app, the Kaspersky Software Updater.

The Kaspersky Software Updater helps the user to scan the device for popular programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Opera, RealPlayer and WinZip that need to be updated. It will then present a report to the user where updates are ranked according to the severity of the vulnerabilities.

The user can select which programs to update and the Kaspersky Software Updater will automatically download the software updates from the developer sites. The Kaspersky Software Updater can be configured to run regular checks automatically or manually.

The Kaspersky Software Updater is free for download on Windows desktops and laptops running XP Home/Professional, Vista Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Ultimate, Windows 8/Pro/Enterprise, Windows 8.1/Pro/Enterprise/8.1 Update and Windows 10. Other requirements include Windows Installer 3.0 or later, 480MB of hard disk space, 1GHz or higher processor, 1GB RAM (32-bit) or 2GB (64-bit).
