Let's be honest - online meetings are important, but you don't need to see your boss with high-quality graphics all the time. Doubly so if you're participating in a call on your personal mobile data plan. Don't even get us started on the battery drain online meetings have on mobile devices.
Well, Google knows this, and they've prepared a quality-of-life feature for its online meeting app, Google Meet. Starting today, Google Meet for Android and iOS mobile devices will have a new option to limit data usage on the app. This feature minimises mobile data usage, conserves battery life, and reduces processing loads on your mobile's CPU.

To use it, simply update your Google Meet app and find the feature under Settings. By default, Limit Data Usage is not enabled, so toggling it on is necessary.
Google said that the rollout of this feature begun today and will continue for the next two weeks or longer (15 days), so don't fret if you do not see the feature in your app yet.
In case you've missed it, Google Meet is free to use as long as you have a Google account, and it can host up to 100 participates for a maximum of one hour. Additional features beyond that would require a Google Workspace subscription (formerly G Suite).
