Google Announces Updates for Chrome, the Web Store and Chrome OS

Google Chrome OS pilot program launches, Chrome Web Store opens in the US, while the latest Chrome runs complex JavaScript programs up to twice as fast as before.

Dec 7, 2010 - Google today announced several updates for Chrome, the Web Store and Chrome OS. The updates include:

Chrome

Google has brought Google Instant to the Omnibox, showing search results and loading web pages as you type. Also, it overhauled V8, Chrome’s JavaScript engine, hence it can now run complex JavaScript programs up to twice as fast as before.

Chrome Web Store

Chrome Web Store is open for business in the US and will be available to other parts of the world early next year.

Chrome OS

Google launched the Chrome OS pilot program where test notebooks will be given to qualified users, developers, schools and businesses in the U.S. Chrome notebooks will be available for sale from Acer and Samsung in the first half of next year
