Over the years, Google has made a number of changes to the way we use Google Search, and they’ve now added AI to expand how Google can help us get results in Google Lens, from finding just the right information needed to exploring any curiosity that comes to mind.

Google included gen AI into Lens earlier this year, allowing users to point their camera, ask a question and get an AI Overview with the information needed, along with links to learn more. Now you can use Lens to search by taking a video and asking questions about the moving objects that you see. For example, you’re at the aquarium and want to learn more about some interesting fish at one of the exhibits. Open Lens in the Google app and hold down the shutter button to record while asking your question out loud, like, “Why are they swimming together?”

You can also ask a voice question anytime you take a photo with Lens. Just point your camera, hold the shutter button and ask whatever’s on your mind — the same way you’d point at something and ask your friend about it.
Both Voice and Video input for Lens is now available globally in the Google app for Android and iOS, for English queries. But note that Video input is currently only available for Search Lab users enrolled in the “AI Overviews and more” experiment.
This update comes as Microsoft also added the same capabilities to Copilot. While not quite search, it only serves to add fuel to the AI wars.
