It’s happened to all of us the first time we drive to a new location. Where can we park? Well, Google Maps has just added a feature to help you find parking near your destination, this can be especially useful if you’ve never been there at all.
But that’s not all. Google announced five updates to Maps and Waze. Here’s what they are:

Google says that Destination guidance in Maps will start rolling out globally on Android and iOS, cars with Google Built-in, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the coming weeks. With it, Maps’ new destination guidance will automatically light up your destination and its entrance as you approach it, in addition to showing you nearby parking lots.

If you come across an accident while driving, Maps is making it easier to report it and other incidences like nearby construction, lane closures, objects on the road, and even the police. You'll see larger reporting icons that is easier to tap so you can more quickly share with other drivers confirming it by tapping as well. This improved way to report incidents on Maps is rolling out globally now on Android and iOS, cars with Google built-in, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Don't get caught by a speed camera again! Image source: Google.
In countries like Singapore where speed cameras are placed next to the express-way to catch people who are speeding, Waze is adding an Alert button to add the camera’s data to Waze and to let other drivers know its location. As a driver you’ll now see an alert if you’re approaching a camera that snaps pictures for things like speeding, running a red light, using the wrong lane (like the bus lane), not wearing a seatbelt, or using phones while driving. These alerts for traffic cameras on Waze are rolling out globally on Android and iOS.

With the rehearsals for the National Day Parade going on, driving around the key parade area can be tricky as there are road closures, slow traffic, and general congestion. If you’ve recently driven through an impacted area or have places saved near the area in Waze, you’ll get a notification once the event has started. Waze will show you helpful details like the cause of the event, if there are road closures and real-time traffic conditions. You can even share these details with friends and family if for example you know that they’re heading to the area as well. The new traffic events feature in Waze is rolling out globally on Android and iOS now.
Waze users can now get navigation guidance — like turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates or hazard alerts — all while their phone is locked. Lock screen navigation launches globally on Waze on Android this month and will come to iOS this fall.
