Google Acquires Gesture Technology Company Flutter
Google has recently acquired Flutter, a company that specializes in gesture control technology, and creator of Flutter, a Mac application that lets you control Spotify, iTunes and a few other software using gestures captured by a webcam.
Google has recently acquired Flutter, a gesture control technology company, creator of an Mac app with the same name. According to The Next Web, Flutter is a highly regarded startup company that recently received $1.4 miilion in funding to aid in its research into "a ubiquitous and power-efficient gesture recognition technology." The Flutter app describes itself as "Kinect for OS X," and uses your machine's webcam to capture and decipher hand gestures in order to control music programs like iTunes, Spotify, and Quicktime.

Flutter's gesture control Mac app is still available for download, but it's unclear for now if it will still receive support. What Google plans to do with Flutter's technology is also not specified for now, but given Google's wide array of products, ranging from Google Glass to driver-less cars, it makes sense for Google to invest in a company that specializes in gesture controls that could potentially be used in many of Google's current and upcoming products.
