Facebook reaches new milestone: 1 billion users in a single day

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has just announced that on Monday, one billion people used Facebook in a single day.

It's no secret that Facebook is the biggest social media on the planet. But how big is it exactly?

Just recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared that on Monday, over a billion people logged on and used Facebook. Considering that the population of the world is around 7 billion, that means 1 out of every 7 people on Earth used Facebook on Monday.

He also said that Facebook is all about connecting people and stated that, "A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values."

Facebook was founded in 2004 and now enjoys an average of around 960 million users daily and have around 1.49 billion active users. Its user base dwarfs every other social network. But the most scary thing is that Facebook is in fact still growing, and is gaining new users everyday.
