Apple has informed developers that from 1st February 2015 onwards, all apps submitted to the app store must include 64-bit support.
Currently, developers can choose whether to submit only 32-bit apps or universal binaries with both 32-bit and 64-bit code. This will no longer be an option from February. For consumers, the benefits of all apps moving to 64-bit architecture will mean performance and memory gains for devices running on Apple's A7 or A8 chip (iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina Display), as running 32-bit apps requires the loading of additional resources into system memory.
Existing apps will not be removed from the app store.
