Aside from AI features and more Home Screen customizability, Apple will reportedly unveil a native password app for iOS 18 and macOS 15.

Sources with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg that Apple plans to introduce the native password app at WWDC 2024. The native password app will make it easier for users to log in to websites and apps, and nudge them to use stronger passwords

Bloomberg says the native password app will be built on the existing iCloud Keychain, which syncs passwords and other secure information across Apple devices and Windows PCs.

To be sure, iOS and macOS already have password manager-like functions, but the feature is buried within the Settings app and isn't apparent to most users.

As and when it launches, Apple's native password app will have to compete with the likes of popular third-party password managers such as 1Password and LastPass. Like most password managers, Apple allows users to import their passwords from other services.
