The name of the next macOS has allegedly leaked ahead of WWDC 2025 next week.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the next macOS—macOS 26—will be called Tahoe (find out why it's called macOS 26 and not 16 here).
Named after the scenic Lake Tahoe, the area is renowned for its reflective blue waters and surrounding green forests. The choice of name allegedly reflects the major design overhaul that is coming to macOS.
Word on the street is that Apple’s operating systems will be undergoing a major visual overhaul this year to give them a fresh look and feel. According to rumours, the overhaul will borrow heavily from visionOS and will feature heavy use of rounded graphics, translucency, and 3D elements.
Whatever it may be, we won’t have to wait long to find out. WWDC 2025 is happening next week.
