Apple might charge a monthly subscription to access some features of Apple Intelligence in the future.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims in his latest Power On newsletter that the slowing pace of hardware upgrades is likely to push Apple to depend more on service and subscription fees.

Hence, Gurman believes Apple's long term strategy is to monetise Apple Intelligence by launching extra features that users have to pay a monthly subscription to access. The paid service could be branded as "Apple Intelligence+".

In addition, Apple could receive a portion of the subscription revenue from each AI partner it works with. Gurman also says a deal with Google for Apple Intelligence is expected to be announced later this year.

Apple is not the only company which plans to charge users for using AI features. Samsung stated in the footnote of some marketing and press materials that Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025, which strongly suggests that the South Korean company might start charging users for certain features in 2026.

T.M. Roh, the head of Samsung's mobile business, revealed during a media briefing that "there could be customers who wish for even more powerful AI capabilities, and even pay for them". This opens the door for Samsung to consider introducing paid features for the Galaxy AI.
