Apple’s officially in the artificial intelligence (AI) game as it rolls out its Apple Intelligence AI platform to supported devices.
That said, Apple Intelligence is still a work in progress and not a finished product at launch, So, all of the Apple Intelligence features that were announced earlier this year won’t be available on your iPhone or other Apple devices just yet.
Here’s what you can try starting from today:
Writing Tools

Writing Tools provide a more confident writing experience across a variety of applications. With just a simple tap or click, you can rewrite, proofread, and summarise content in almost any app – including Mail, Messages, Notes, and supported third-party platforms. The "Rewrite" feature presents multiple versions of your text, allowing you to adjust the tone to suit the audience or task at hand, whether it is professional, concise, or friendly. "Proofread" checks for grammar, word choice, and sentence structure, suggesting edits complete with explanations so you can either understand or accept the changes. There is also a "Summarise" option, which allows you to turn selected text into a concise paragraph, bullet points, a table, or a list.
Siri updates

Siri now features an all-new, refined design, highlighted by a glowing light that wraps around the screen of your device, whether it is iPhone, iPad, or CarPlay. On Mac, Siri becomes even more accessible, as you can place it anywhere on your desktop for convenience while working. There's also the option to "Type to Siri" on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, switching between typing and speaking.
Siri is also apparently more resilient, able to handle changes made mid-request. For instance, you could start by asking, "Siri, set an alarm – wait, no, I meant a timer for 10 minutes – actually, let’s make that 15." Additionally, Siri's improved product knowledge means it can answer feature-related questions about Apple products, such as "How do I take a screen recording?" or "How do I reset my AirTag?"
Mail enhancements

Mail can now highlight important emails by surfacing the highest-priority messages at the top of your inbox. Summaries within email threads provide a quick overview of ongoing conversations, allowing you to grasp the context at a glance. Furthermore, the "Smart Reply" feature facilitates faster responses, helping you keep your email workflow efficient.
Notification summaries
Notification summaries now collect essential information from a range of notifications, including Mail, Messages, and other apps. These summaries present key details directly on the Lock Screen, making it easier to scan through long or stacked notifications, especially when dealing with particularly active group chats.
New Focus feature
The new "Focus" feature, called Reduce Interruptions, is designed to highlight only those notifications that require immediate attention. This helps you stay on top of urgent matters while filtering out unnecessary distractions.
Photos improvements

Photos now support natural language search, making it simple for you to locate images by describing them, such as "Maya skateboarding in a tie-dye shirt". Addtionally, you can create a customisable Memory Movie by typing a description that brings together photos and videos from your library. The new Clean Up tool also allows you to remove background elements, preserving the intended focus of the image. The Clean Up tool can be used on any image in the Photos library, including older images or those taken with a different device, such as a DSLR.
Phone and Notes Transcription
Arguably one of my favourite features, recording and transcribing phone calls is now possible, with Apple Intelligence providing summaries of the transcripts. Similarly, audio recordings in the Notes app can be transcribed, with summaries generated to help users quickly extract the key information.
Apple also says more new Apple Intelligence features will be available in December and the coming months. In December for instance, users will have access to access to ChatGPT with Siri and Writing Tools; Visual Intelligence with Camera Control on iPhone 16 lineup to help users instantly learn more about what’s in front of them.
