Apple confirms media event on 25 March at the Steve Jobs Theatre

The tagline for the media event: It's show time.

As rumored, Apple has officially confirmed that it will be holding a media event on 25 March at the Steve Jobs Theatre. Apple is likely to announce a premium news subscription service and preview its video subscription service at the event.

Industry sources claimed many publishers have signed deals with Apple for the premium news subscription service although big newspapers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal are reluctant to join.

As for the video subscription service, Apple is said to be targeting a launch in summer or fall rather than April. Apple is planning to show clips of the original series that are still in the works. It reportedly informed content partners to have their respective content ready by mid-April for a launch "within weeks" of the mid-April deadline.

The company could also launch a subscription service for games. It started discussions with game developers in the second half of 2018 and it is tipped to be the Netflix for games where consumers pay a monthly fee to access a bundled list of apps.

Apple could bundle the upcoming services with Apple Music as a single subscription package with cost savings to entice consumers to sign up.

While the event is unlikely to be hardware-focused, Apple could still announce the availability of the AirPower wireless charging pad and an upgraded AirPods with wireless charging support.
