WhatsApp announced five new features coming to the platform in the coming weeks.
In a blog post, the company shared that new animated sticker packs will be available soon. It claims that billions of stickers are sent every day and the new animated sticker packs will be more fun and expressive. Users can soon add each other in the contact list by scanning their QR codes, which eliminates the hassle of keying in their mobile numbers.
Dark Mode will be coming to the web and desktop versions of WhatsApp. Group video calls are also enhanced; users can press and hold to maximise a participant's video to full screen to focus on him/her. In addition, there will be a video icon in group chats of 8 or less so that users can easily start a group video call with one tap. KaiOS users can share Status updates which disappear after 24 hours.
The new features are rolling out to users over the coming weeks, in the latest version of WhatsApp.
