Android M officially known as Android 6.0 Marshmallow, SDK available for download

The next version of Android OS is officially known as Marshmallow and comes with a new build number 6.0. The final Android 6.0 SDK is also available for download.

Google finally reveals the name of its upcoming Android M OS which is Marshmallow. Known officially as Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the final SDK is now available for developers to download.

Marshmallow is the 11th version of the Android platform; the Android versions are named after desserts in alphabetical order starting from Android 1.5 Cupcake, Android 1.6 Donut,  Android 2.0 Eclair, Android 2.2 Froyo, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The upcoming Android 6.0 OS will bring several new features such as more granular app permissions, Chrome custom tabs, Android Pay, Doze battery-saving tool, and native support for USB Type-C support and fingerprint recognition.
