The Amazon Prime Now app is now available in the Singapore Apple App Store (link) and Google Play store (link), which suggests that the fast delivery service is about to go live in the city state.
According to the app description, the Singapore Prime Now storefront will have "tens of thousands of items, including groceries, household and home essentials, baby, beauty, electronics, toys, and more."
Also, two-hour delivery is free for orders over S$40 and available in “all our delivery areas on Singapore mainland and Sentosa.” For orders under S$40, the delivery fee is S$5.99. There's also a faster one-hour delivery option that's priced at S$9.99 and is available in “most postal codes.”
I've yet to try the app, but a user who alerted me to it said that on first start, you'll be prompted to enter a postal code first. A splash screen will also pop up to say “no membership signup required for a limited time.”
Additionally, it looks like Amazon is working with several partners for this launch. The app advertises a S$20 discount for your first order if you use Visa to pay and enter the code 'VISA20' at checkout. Alternatively, you can use the code '10PRIMENOW' to get S$10 off.
Goods are divided into categories, such as Local Favorites, Amazon Basics, Fruits & Vegetables, Dairy, Eggs & Tofu, Groceries, etc. There are also categories stocked with specific brands' products, such as Hottest Beauty Picks (L’Oréal products), Samsung Experience (Samsung products, obviously), German Technology (Oral-B and Braun products), Tools for a Clean Home (Scotch Brite products), Brewed Fresh in Singapore (Tiger Beer), and more. For tech gadgets, prominent ones include Linksys’ Velop mesh Wi-Fi system and Bose's audio equipment. There are also many cameras, laptops, and mobile gear. Oh, in case you’re wondering, nope, no Kindle ebook readers.
