CSI style photo editing may soon become a reality with Adobe Photoshop's new unblur tool, unveiled at their MAX conference yesterday.
Drawing applause and gasps of amazement from the crowd, Adobe showed how a blurry, out of focus photo can be retouched and perfected in seconds. One crowd member was so impressed he cried out, "No way! That's impossible!"
Freeware image editor GIMP has a similar 'refocus' tool but Adobe's offering appears far more advanced. The Adobe presenter explained that advanced algorithms calculate the movements of the camera lens at the time the image was taken, enabling the user to fix the image by unblurring it.
Unfortunately, no release date has currently been announced for the Unblur tool.
