4chan founder now works for Google

While it’s not clear what Chris Poole (also known as Moot) will be working on, the latest announcement indicates that the founder of 4chan will likely be working on Google’s community-based service, Google+.

As of today, the founder of 4chan joins Google as an employee.

Chris Poole announced the news of his new job over at his blog, which read:

“Today I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined Google.

When meeting with current and former Googlers, I continually find myself drawn to their intelligence, passion, and enthusiasm — as well as a universal desire to share it with others. I’m also impressed by Google’s commitment to enabling these same talented people to tackle some of the world’s most interesting and important problems.

I can’t wait to contribute my own experience from a dozen years of building online communities, and to begin the next chapter of my career at such an incredible compa
ny.”

While the announcement doesn’t declare what moot (his online handle over at 4chan) is working on, we gather that he will most likely be working on projects related to Google+, with all things considered in his announcement and this congratulatory tweet by Bradley Horowitz, the founder of Google+.

Imageboard website 4chan is infamous for many Internet-related references in today’s pop culture, including the iCloud incident that involved a massive leak of risqué celebrity photos that were released without permission.
