As the tag-line says it all, it’s an eco-sensitive smart shower head that uses Bluetooth 4.0 to convey your water usage stats to the app (iOS and Android supported) on your device. How it works is pure genius as it’s practically self-powered. By that, we mean it is powered by the water flow through a mini water turbine inside the shower head. What’s more, the shower head actually has an array of LEDs that will glow to the triggered color to warn you that the water consumption has passed a preset. And once it passed another preset to shut off water, you can no longer shower until you’ve reset the shower head – which is basically turning off the water supply and turning it back on again.
You can select warning color as well as water consumption thresholds. And this can be set for each member of your family.
While you can defeat the ‘system’, the purpose of the smart shower head is to give you a visible warning and to quickly wrap up your shower routine. The folks at Hydrao say it will at least save 25% water consumption off an average household just because they are visually informed at the point of usage. Your mileage might even improve if you choose to be more proactive from water consumption stats over time:-

The Hydrao has actually been on sale in France, but the edition shown here is an updated variant that will soon ship to several other countries. It is now available for pre-order at US$99. More importantly, it uses a standard shower head screw, so it will fit in any home. Just swap your old shower head for a smart Hydrao and you’re done.
