Three Top Microsoft Shareholders Suggest Bill Gates to Step Down
After Steve Ballmer's departure from Microsoft, a few top shareholders at Microsoft are suggesting that Bill Gates too should step down and reduce his presence on the board.
Following Steve Ballmer's emotional farewell at a Microsoft employees meeting recently, rumors suggest that three top shareholders at Microsoft are putting forward the recommendation that Bill Gates too should step down and reduce his presence on the Microsoft board.
In Ballmer's farewell address, he assured employees and shareholders that Microsoft will "deliver the next big thing" and "change the world again". However, some top shareholders are concerned that Gates' presence on the board would restrict the power of a new CEO to make significant changes to bring the company forward.
For example, they are concerned about Gates' roles in the special committee appointed to seek out Ballmer's successor. In addition, reports also say that they are worried that Gates wields power out of proportion to his declining shareholding.
It is also said that these three shareholders hold over 5% of Microsoft stock, compared to the 4.5% that Gates is presently holding.
