Sonnet has expanded its Echo family of Thunderbolt expansion chassis for PCIe cards with the new Echo Express II.

Supporting most Thunderbolt-compatible PCIe cards, the new Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion chassis features two PCIe slots and is based on the original Echo Express expansion chassis, with a second slot to support two half-length, full-height, single-width PCIe 2.0 x16 cards. With dual Thunderbolt ports to support daisy chaining of devices, the new Echo chassis includes a universal 100W internal power supply, and three temperature-controlled, variable-speed fans for cooling the cards and the chassis components.

The Echo Express II conserves energy by powering on/off with the computer it is attached to, and enables iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro computers equipped with a Thunderbolt port to use Thunderbolt-compatible professional video capture, audio interface, SAS and SATA HBA, 8Gb Fibre Channel, 10Gb Ethernet, and RAID controller cards.

Backed by Sonnet’s Pro 5-year warranty, the Echo Express II (part number ECHO-EXP2H) is available for US$699. For more information on compatible PCIe expansion cards, click here.
