Samsung Exec: Not Enough Credits Given to the Galaxy Gear
David Eun, EVP and head of the Open Innovation Center at Samsung defended the Galaxy Gear smart watch and shared his personal thoughts that the company is not given credits for innovating and getting the device into the market.

A Samsung executive has stepped up to address the negative reviews of the company's Galaxy Gear smartwatch and shared his personal thoughts at Business Insider's Ignition Conference.
David Eun, EVP and head of the Open Innovation Center at Samsung told Business Insider that the Galaxy Gear is a first generation device and compares it to a "small green tomato". Calling the Galaxy Gear "a 1.0 device", Eun felt that not enough people are giving Samsung the credits for innovating and getting it into the market as it is not easy integrating all the functionality into the device. Given time, he believes that the Galaxy Gear will be a big red tomato.
David Eun - “And what we want to do is take care of them and work with them so they become big, red ripe tomatoes. And what you want to be sure of is that you don’t pluck the green tomato too early and you want to make sure that you don’t criticize a small green tomato for not being a big, red ripe tomato.”
We reviewed the Galaxy Gear in October and found it to be too expensive for what it had to offer at launch. The Galaxy Gear can only work with a handful of Galaxy devices and lacks an intuitive user interface.
