Pebble has just announced that the SDK (software development kit) for its Pebble smart watch is now available for download. The SDK will allow third-party developers to create apps for its popular smart watch.

The Pebble smart watch began life as a Kickstarter project where it asked for US$100,000 for funding. In the end, the campaign attracted so much attention that Pebble ended up securing over US$10.2 million worth of pledges.

One of the reasons the Pebble smart watch was so popular and eagerly-anticipated was that its users could download new apps and watch faces for it, not unlike what you could do on your Android or iOS device. With the release of the SDK, the Pebble smart watch would be one step closer to fulfilling that promise.
