Klipsch also has a few extra niceties that differentiate it from most competitors, such as dynamic light shows that are in sync with your music, and customisable based on your preferences.

If you’re in the market for portable wireless speakers powerful enough to bring a party to life,  Klipsch has joined the party with its first-ever offerings: the Gig XL and Gig XXL

Party in the house

For a speaker to earn the “party” moniker, it must be loud enough to fill an ample open space and have a thumpy bass that gets your guests moving.

Bonus points if it’s wireless so that anyone can hook up their phone for fuss-free beats, and it has a huge built-in battery so you can hit the beach or other outdoor areas without being tethered. Many existing products on the market also sport flashy LED lights that add flair to your parties.

Klipsch’s Gig XL and Gig XXL check all of these boxes, and claim to offer better sound quality than its competitors due to its hi-fi pedigree.

The XL touts one 6.5-inch woofer and one 2-inch tweeter that promises crisp highs and deep lows at a robust 109 dB. The XXL doubles that impact with two of each woofer and tweeter, hitting 113 dB.

Klipsch also has a few extra niceties that differentiate it from most competitors, such as dynamic light shows that sync with your music and are customisable based on your preferences.

The Gig XXL has the unique feature of a 1/4-inch instrument cable input that’s compatible with most guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and more. This makes it more versatile than your typical party speakers.

The small Gig XL, while having no such input, does offer an IPX4 rating that can withstand water splashes and rain, which makes it ideal for outdoor parties.

You can even sync two Gig XL or XXL speakers together to amplify the sound across a wider space further.

If audio fidelity is important to you, the Gig XL and XXL also support a 3.5mm audio jack and USB inputs.

According to Klipsch, the party speakers will last up to eight hours at full volume.

But the true killer application for these speakers may lie in one of Asia’s favourite hobbies – karaoke

Both party speakers come with a wired microphone attached, essentially turning it into a small-ish portable karaoke machine you can carry anywhere. Just be considerate of your neighbours when you do.

Do I go for an XL or XXL party?

Ultimately, Klipsch has a real shot at shaking up the party speaker market with the Gig XL and Gig XXL, but the biggest problems will be which speaker to choose: the bigger one with more versatility, or the smaller one that’s IPX4 rated?

Perhaps the pricing will help. The Gig XL and Gig XXL are available now at S$399 and S$699, respectively, on TC Acoustic. You can also find them on the Klipsch official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
