Google Finally Completes Acquisition of Motorola Mobility
In a blog post, CEO of Google Larry Page announced that the acquisition of Motorola Mobility is finally complete. Both US and European regulatory bodies were looking into the merger to ensure no occurrence of future foul play.

The process of Google acquiring Motorola Mobility was set in in motion way back in August 2011 and has finally come to completion. The merger had passed the scrutiny of European and American regulators and Google CEO Larry Page has announced that the deal has now been closed.
Motorola Mobility holds around 17,000 patents and those were undoubtedly attractive to Google. With news trickling out that the search giants want to release their own Nexus tablets and smartphones, Motorola's nous is sure to be put to good use.
Manufacturing their own hardware will enable Google to compete in a more direct fashion with Apple. It may also help set the benchmark for expectations in an extremely splintered Android product market landscape. But seeing that this is Google's first foray into putting out hardware, maybe expectations should be reigned in.
