Qashier launches SME Support Package to boost adoption of digital payment solutions in Singapore

To accelerate the adoption of digital payment solutions amongst local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore, Qashier has launched an SME Support Package open to all Singapore-registered businesses. Qashier will immediately approve eligible applicants and provide up to 53% sponsorship of its point-of-sale (POS) and payment solutions, subject to the package of choice. Applications for the sponsorship will run until the end of the year.

Synology announces 2 new NAS devices for professionals, small teams, and edge deployments

Synology announced the release of the DiskStation DS224+ and DS124, a dual and single-bay NAS respectively. the company says that the devices can be used to back up workstations, laptops, and mobile devices, and folders, system settings, and software packages stored on the Synology NAS can be backed up to the cloud, to secondary Synology systems, and to external devices. The DS224+ retails for S$499 while the DS124 is priced at S$299 from Synology resellers.

APAC cyber risk declines, but 82% of organisations predict successful attacks this year

Trend Micro’s biannual Cyber Risk Index (CRI) report, which measures the gap between respondents’ cybersecurity preparedness versus their likelihood of being attacked, 88% of organisations in Singapore foresee a successful attack in 2023. Organisations in cited business email compromise (BEC), Web scrapping, and clickjacking as the top few cyber threats that they expect to experience this year. Singapore organisations also cite a lack of qualified personnel and employees comprised two of their top five infrastructure risks.

SCDF and Dell host LifeSavers’ Innovation Challenge 2023

Dell Singapore and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) held the Dell LifeSavers’ Innovation Challenge which saw close to 200 sign-ups from more than 10 IHLs using digital capabilities to create solutions for various challenges in civil defence, community resilience, and emergency response. This year’s winner, Hack & Hose from SMU, won S$10,000 for their solution VisionGuard, a machine learning computer vision model that identifies fire and medical emergencies from video footage.

ServiceNow and partners commit to train 1,000 Singaporeans in digital skills by 2024

At the opening of ServiceNow's new Innovation Centre, the company along with NTUC LearningHub signed an Academic Partnership agreement in a national skills commitment to bring low-code digital courses to more than 1,000 Singaporeans by 2024. The training courses are also available to anyone in Singapore who is interested in building a digital career, with more than 600 free courses and 18-job related certification paths. Local placements are available with key partners, such as Accenture, Fujitsu, Enable - a Fujitsu company, NCS and Tata Consultancy Services in Singapore.

Singtel and Zscaler announce a partnership to offer access to Zscaler services through Singtel's Managed Security Service Edge

In response to the growing demand for robust cybersecurity solutions, Zscaler now offers its security service edge (SSE) solutions, and access to Zscaler's Zero Trust Exchange through Singtel's Managed Security Service Edge (MSSE) suite. This cover includes pre-sales to post-sales support from dedicated cybersecurity experts as well as resources such as platform consultation, build implementation, maintenance, and round-the-clock threat mitigation.

Zoom report says 65% of Singaporeans rank flexible hours as the top workplace perk

Zoom announced the launch of its Workplace Benefits Preferences Survey, which found that flexible hours (65%) and location (60%) were ranked second to pay and benefits as the top workplace perks preferred by Singaporeans. The survey of some 4,000 workers across five countries, including Singapore, also found that 78% of Singaporeans say that they are more likely to work for a company that offers remote or flexible work if the other aspects of the job were about the same.

Fortinet and IDC survey says 70% of respondents in Singapore have experienced at least a 2X increase in security incidents

An IDC study commissioned by Fortinet has found that 92% of respondents in Singapore have a hybrid or fully remote working model, with more than two-thirds (68%) having at least 50% of their employees working in hybrid mode. 70% of respondents in Singapore have experienced at least a 2X increase in security incidents like phishing, denial of service, data/identity theft, ransomware, and data loss.

Straits Interactive and SMU Academy launch Advanced Certificate in Generative AI, Ethics, and Data Protection

Straits Interactive and SMU Academy, the training arm of Singapore Management University, have announced the launch of the Advanced Certificate in Generative AI, Ethics, and Data Protection. This is a comprehensive 12-day programme that empowers participants with a deep understanding of generative AI and its ethical implications. Through a series of 6 modules, participants are exposed to practical techniques and applications of generative AI across various domains.

Frasers Property scores Singapore’s first in attaining four WiredScore Platinum certifications

Frasers Property is the first Singapore real estate group to attain four WiredScore Platinum certifications. SALTO Systems unveils new SEA HQ and XSperience Centre in Singapore

Alibaba.com, IMDA, and Enterprise Singapore sign MOU to help Singapore SMBs connect globally

Alibaba.com signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) today with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) to help SMBs in Singapore connect with customers globally and strengthen their cross-border e-commerce capabilities. Apart from priority placements on Alibaba.com for greater visibility, participating SMBs will also be entitled to tools and services provided by Alibaba.com, such as digital marketing tools and platform analytics, as well as consultancy and advisory services.
