No, it's not April Fool's Day. Elon Musk's Boring Company is really selling a US$500 flamethrower. The weapon is currently available for pre-order, and according to Musk 1,000 of the 20,000 that will be produced have already been ordered.

The product description for the flamethrower lists it as the "world's safest" although it doesn't go into specifics as to what exactly makes it safe. Interestingly, Boring Company is also selling an "overpriced" US$30 branded fire extinguisher on the same page.

International shipping for the flamethrower is available, however, the page notes that "additional customs fees may apply for international orders because of laws." On the plus side, "international customers can receive a full refund if not happy with said fees."
