DJI's popular Osmo Mobile goes silver and the Phantom 4 is splashed in red!

New year and new colors! DJI listened to its customer base and came up with the silver edition for the Osmo Mobile, which we must admit it looks good. On the note of new colors, DJI is also ushering in the Chinese New Year with a chili red variant of its Phantom 4 drone.

Black is certainly a safe and professional color for many devices but DJI’s popular Osmo Mobile is simple and intuitive enough that it has garnered the attention of the masses, even if it’s still a bit pricey at US$299. And so DJI has had several requests for a friendlier color option to suit lifestyle conscious folks and those who would like color coordinated accessories for the mobile phone.

So at CES 2017, DJI has showcased a new offering – the DJI Osmo Mobile Silver.

At first we thought it could look tacky, but closer inspection revealed a rather nice blend of beige, white and silver that we do approve. In fact, we would recommend the Silver edition over the standard one as it just looks better. While crafting this lifestyle oriented Osmo Mobile Silver, DJI also enhanced it a tad bit by adding a new Beautify mode that should bode well for its intended customer base. This mode uses automatic identification and intelligent processing technologies inside the DJI GO app, allowing users to perform minor touch ups and give their videos that smooth, professional finish.

The Osmo Mobile Silver will also go for the same price of US$299 and will be available from second half of January.

Note that the new Osmo Mobile Silver will come in this kit.

But that’s not all.

In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year, DJI has taken its top consumer drone, the Phantom 4, and doused it in red. It features the phoenix as the centerpiece, a symbol of good fortune and happiness in Chinese mythology, while the four basic elements of nature – air, fire, water and earth – are also reflected in the design. The Phantom 4 Chinese New Year Edition’s U.S. retail price is US$1,199 and will be sold exclusively at Apple Stores, DJI Flagship Stores (except Korea), DJI Online Store and Tmall DJI Store. The product will start shipping from January 23.
