Gigabyte has announced the Aorus RTX 3090/3080 Gaming Box, featuring either the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 or 3080. The Gaming Box relies on the Thunderbolt 3 interface to connect with your laptop, allowing compatible ultrabooks to take advantage of a hefty boost in graphics performance. There is support for Power Delivery 3.0 as well, so you can charge your laptop at the same time.
According to Gigabyte, it is also the world's first external graphics dock to feature an integrated WaterForce all-in-one liquid cooling system to keep the card running cool. The company has managed to pack a 240mm aluminum radiator and two 120mm double ball bearing fans in the dock, while a large copper base plate makes contact with the GPU and helps whisk heat away. Composite heat pipes further help with heat dissipation from crucial components like the VRAM and MOSFETs.
The Gaming Box also features a dedicated Ethernet port for wired connectivity, and you also get a network chip that handles your connection so you don't have to worry about transmission interference during game.
Round the back, the Gaming Box features two HDMI and three DisplayPort outputs, in addition to two USB 3.0 ports (there's a third one at the front for easy access). The Thunderbolt 3 and Ethernet ports are located at the rear as well.
Of course, the Gaming Box wouldn't be complete without RGB lighting, and despite its stealthy, utilitarian design, you'll be able to customise the RGB effects using the Aorus Engine and RGB Fusion 2.0 software.
