Alibaba CEO and China's second richest man, Jack Ma, is taking his talents to the big screen with a starring role in the upcoming kung fu movie "Gong Shou Dao" - The Art of Attack  and Defense. Ma will appear in the film alongside prominent martial arts actors Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa and others.

The film is apparently inspired by kung fu, tai chi and other martial arts, with Ma portraying a tai chi master in the movie. According to Alibaba, Ma himself has been studying tai chi since 1988.

“He believes the spiritual and physical benefits of tai chi should be shared across the world and used to promote exercise and wellness and cultural exchanges among people of different cultures”

“Gong Shou Dao” is scheduled to be released on 11th November, also known as Singles’ Day in China, and will be available on Chinese video platform Youku.

Over the past few years, Singles’ Day has also been a huge online shopping event, on par with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Alibaba said it made 120.7 billion yuan (S$24.7 billion) from sales on that day alone last year.
