Computex 2011 Show Coverage - Part 6
The sixth installment of our Computex 2011 coverage saw us visiting the booths of Antec, Evercool, Noctua, Patriot, Plextor, Lite-On, Scythe, Team, Thecus and Titan.
Antec's Booth
Antec celebrates 25 years in the business of producing chassis, power supplies and other accessories and peripherals.
Antec demonstrated the raw power output of its 1200W High Current Pro PSU, which was able to sustain two different systems, each of which had dual high-end graphics cards.
A power measurement tool allowed visitors to see for themselves the total power provided by the Antec PSU.
For gamers, the High Current Gamer Plus improves on the original by adding modular cable management to this 80 PLUS Bronze product.
Antec's CP series ranges from 850 to 1000W, all of which are 80 PLUS certified. Its selling point however is the unique 120mm PWM fan attached to the outside of the PSU unit.
This PSU with a rather interesting exterior design is a mockup of Antec's upcoming 80 PLUS Platinum PSU. It's not yet ready but Antec told us the exterior design is mostly finalized.
Antec has launched new 140mm fans touted to be extremely quiet, due to its rubber mounts that reduce vibrations.
Antec's high-end liquid cooling system comes with a cooler fan at the radiator. Compatible with all current AMD and Intel processors.
The latest version of Antec's Sonata, Sonata IV keeps the piano-like finish of the series. A silicone base helps to keep the internal noise of the chassis inside for quiet computing.
This is the upcoming Solo II, which is also part of the Sonata family. There are few details revealed besides the general look, but you can expect more sound-deadening panels and silicone base to reduce noise. You can also catch a glimpse of the new 140mm TrueQuiet fans.
Evercool's Booth
Evercool's booth has a range of cooling products on display.
The Transformer 3 is a smaller version of Evercool's Transformer 4, with one fewer copper heatpipe and just one 120mm PWM fan. It's compatible with current AMD and Intel processors.

Evercool's Hawk 2 notebook cooler has a 120mm fan and is designed for 14 to 17-inch notebooks. It has five different angle adjustments for users.

These green fans are literally compliant with RoHS standards, There are many different sizes but all are rated at 16 decibels or less.
Claimed to the world's first cooler for routers, this Dr.Cool cooler has a 80mm fan and grips onto your router to keep it cool. It can be powered via USB or DC power.
Evercool suggests that one can adapt the Dr.Cool router cooler for other devices, like the iPad.
Noctua's Booth
Noctua's name has traveled far from its Austria origins and its cooling products are highly rated by reviewers and users alike.
A mounting kit for the upcoming Sandy Bridge-E (LGA2011) processors from Intel. Noctua says that it will compatible with all existing Noctua products since 2005 and will be provided free for all owners of Noctua coolers (proof of purchase required).
A low-profile dual-cooler measuring only 66mm in height and designed for small enclosures like HTPCs. It has four heatpipes with 120/92mm dual fans
A prototype triple stack cooler that has eight heatpipes and 20% more surface area than Noctua's current NH-D14. It's designed for either two 120mm or two 140mm fans. The clearance of the heatsink is such that it won't be in the way of memory modules as long as they are 70mm or less in height.

This slim 140mm fan makes for a quiet CPU cooler. It has seven heatpipes and designed for use with either one or two fans.
This is a new 140mm D-type cooler, based on Noctua's well reviewed NH-D14. There are 50 fins for better heat dissipation while an alternating fin design means a lower air resistance.
Patriot's Booth
Patriot is known for its memory products and we'll see if there are new updates to its usual product lines.
Patriot's Viper Xtreme memory modules come with an aluminum outer shield with a copper core for better cooling. These Divison4 series modules are rated at up to 2133MHz and are available in 16GB kits.
The Supersonic Magnum flash drive uses the USB 3.0 interface for faster speeds. It has a capacity of up to 128GB, with speeds of up to 200MB/s for sequential read and 120MB/s for sequential writes. It is also available in 64GB and 128GB capacities and comes with a 5-year warranty,
This slimmer Supersonic flash drive also has a single USB 3.0 controller for greater speed. It's available in 32 and 64GB sizes, with up to 100MB/s for sequential read speed.
Patriot's new SDHC memory card series, the LX PRO is available in 16 and 32GB capacities and is capable of up to 20MB/s transfer speeds.
The Inferno SE SSD series consists of SATA 3Gbps models that offer up to 280MB/s in sequential read and 270MB/s in sequential write speeds. These SSDs use SandForce's SF-1222 controllers and MLC NAND Flash.
If you need even more speed, the SATA 6Gbps Wildfire from Patriot should fit the bill. It uses the latest SandForce SF-2200 controller and produces speeds that exceed 500MB/s.
The Patriot PBO Core is a full HD media player with expandable internal storage (2.5-inch SATA drive), It has three USB ports for external storage sources and also supports network streaming.
Lite-On and Plextor Booths
Lite-On's booth was about its flash storage solutions and its optical drive business.
This 2.5-inch Lite-On SSD uses the SATA 6Gbps interface and has a Marvell 88S9174 controller inside. It can do sequential reads at 480MB/s and writes at 330MB/s,
This SLC NAND Flash version has the same Marvell controller but the capacity is smaller at 128GB. The sequential speeds are also slightly lower but this is balanced by slightly higher random read and write performance compared to the MLC version.
This is the Lite-On 8A8N series (external slim 8x DVD writer) which has a Smart Join feature that turns any optical drive into a format that devices like media players, TVs and tablets can recognize, allowing the drive to be browsed like a HDD.
The PX-LB950UE is an external Blu-ray disc writer rated at 12x speeds. It uses USB 3.0 for faster transfer speed too.
An internal SATA Blu-ray disc writer rated at 12x speed from Lite-On. According to a Lite-On staff at the booth, LightScribe will be phased out soon on all optical drives.
Scythe's Booth
Scythe is a leading hardware manufacturer for cooling solutions in Japan and it has expanded beyond its home base. Their products do have rather unique, Japanese names.
The Scythe Katana 4 CPU cooler has a slanted pipe structure design for best performance.
This is the Mine 2, which is equipped with Scythe's 140 PWM fan and has a mid ship layout.
The Mine 2 Extreme meanwhile has two fans, a 120mm and a 140mm for even more extreme cooling.
This is the Mugen 3, which is launching this summer. It uses a 120mm PWM fan with what Scythe calls multiple airflow pass-through structure.
A new PSU from Scythe is the Gokuriki, which is 80 PLUS Gold certified and comes in outputs from 750, 850, 1000 and 1200W.
Team's Booth
Team Group is yet another memory manufacturer with the usual NAND flash based solutions.

Team Xtreem DDR3 2133MHz memory is rated at 9-9-9-27 and comes with aluminum heatsinks.
Thecus' Booth
Thecus, who specializes in data storage solutions had a booth that showed off its wares, particularly the business oriented products.
The mainstream N2200 PLUS is a 2-bay model with a slightly slower 800MHz processor but costs less than US$200.
This high performance N2200XXX is a 2-bay NAS with a built-in SDHC card reader. It's powered by an Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz processors with 1GB of RAM.
This is the ThecusShare app for iOS that allows users to stream media wirelessly from their NAS. There's also an Android version.
Titan's Booth
Titan showed off some heavy duty cooling solutions for the CPU and graphics cards.
This is Titan's new Fenrir Siberia Edition CPU cooler. It combines two different fans to provide vertical and horizontal airflow, improving the ambient temperature in the chassis. Five heatpipes maximize the cooling performance.
Titan claims that the fins of these fans, shaped like a kukri, performs better than the usual design.
This dual X holder VGA cooler (TTC-SC07) enhances the default cooler on your graphics card by dissipating the ambient heat. You can also adjust the fans according to your needs.
