You’ll want these accessories for your new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

Apple’s newest iPhones, the 6s and 6s Plus, are launching this Friday, so that means one thing: new accessories! We’ve rounded up a list of top iPhone 6s/6s Plus accessories that you’ll probably want.

Armor up your iPhone

The first thing most of us do when we get our beautiful, shiny new iPhones is to slap a case on it to protect it from the vicissitudes of life.

Now, these hardcore cases aren’t your ordinary shells; they’re built for iPhone versus Wild. The Speck MightyShell case is a shockproof case that is, shockingly, not too big and bulky. If you’re going for armor that looks as tough as it performs, then Otter’s Defender Series and Griffin’s Survivor series are solid classics that make you look like the Dark Knight.

Other cases we like that are coming for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus: Lifeproof NÜÜD waterproofs your iPhone but actually doesn’t cover your screen, its seals go around the glass screen so you can still tap on the screen directly. A bit riskier than the completely sealed cases, but easier to use in everyday life. The Pong case protects the user from radiation, Wired actually tested it in a lab and found that it works.

Pssst: The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are slightly bigger than the 6 and 6 Plus — we’re talking about imperceptible changes here, like a difference of 0.1 mm, but that might mean that a case for the older iPhones won’t fit the newer ones. When in doubt, look for cases made specifically for the new 6s and 6s Plus.

For your ears only

Plug in the earphones that come with your new iPhone. Like the sound? Okay, move on. Don’t like the sound? Okay, we’ve got a few suggestions for you.

First, if you’re looking for good, sound-isolating earphones, we suggest the Shure SE215. Want a little more freedom of movement? Try the JayBird BlueBuds X2 Sport Bluetooth headphones — no wires, no hassle.

For something a little more high-end, you can’t go wrong with the Bose QuietComfort 25 Acoustic noise-canceling headphones. If you really want to give yourself a treat, you can splurge on the luxurious BeoPlay H8s wireless headphones.

For everyone else’s ears

Got iPhone, got Bluetooth. The iPhone’s speakers will do in a pinch, but when you really want to turn that music up, the most hassle-free way is to stream music wirelessly via Bluetooth to a portable Bluetooth speaker.

We can’t not recommend our very own homegrown Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2 for that. This Bluetooth speaker cranks the loudness dial up to 11, without sacrificing sound quality. If you’re looking for something dressier, the Marshall Stanmore M-ACCS-00166 speaker brings the look as well as the sound.

Give your iPhone more juice

Extend the life of your iPhone on the road with portable power banks. It’s hard to beat Xiaomi’s Mi Power Banks with their value for money performance, so the only question really isn’t if you’re going to get a Xiaomi charger, it’s which charger you’re going to get.

If you’re not sure which is for you, check out our reviews of the Mi 16,000 mAh Power Bank, the 10,400 mAh Power Bank, and our 5 tips for buying a portable battery pack.

Shoot more with lenses

The new iPhone 6s/6s Plus come with a new 12MP camera that takes 4K videos. Open up the way your iPhone takes photos with lens attachments that get you closer, let you see wider, or are just plain fun.

Photojojo has a lens set with super fisheye, telephoto, wide angle/macro and polarizer lenses, you can get them in a set or separately. The olloclip lenses clip on both the front and back-facing cameras, with lenses for fisheye, macro and wide-angle. For more upscale lenses; check out Moment’s Tele (2x zoom) and Wide (2x wide-angle) lenses.
