The Top Bizarre Items Of 2007

Its Gets Worse

The Vii

"It's probably missing something", you say, scratching your head in puzzlement. Then it hits you on the noggin, and then you realize that these aren't the Wii you have been looking for. Exclusively made in China (and not exported anywhere else, we hope), the Vii was to be the next big thing before the Wii became officially released in China.

The Vii has already been sufficiently mocked, discussed, explored and talked about, and as far as we're concerned, it should be relegated to the far recesses of our memory. Unfortunately, while we've been dulling our pain by actively indulging in Super Mario Galaxy, the creators have decided to dazzle us with the Vii 2.

Please, no more.

Go Away Factor: No rating could express it.

iBuddy

There's a fine line between coolness and just plain silliness, and sometimes it's really hard to tell. In the case of the iBuddy, we were slightly confounded but not that flabbergasted, yet. The iBuddy is a USB device shaped in the familiar MSN logo with fluttering wings on its back that alerts you when your online buddies log on.

That by itself is fine, but what really tips the iBuddy into the bizarre zone is the fact that it will joyously play whatever emoticons you happen to get. By that, we mean, the wings will start fluttering joyously and its head will start glowing from the pure happiness of alerting you that you have an emoticon.

Luckily, the iBuddy doesn't (yet) come with a built in speaker to tell the whole office how joyous you are, but we're pretty sure if there's ever an updated version...

Looking all joyous and ready for your incoming emoticons.

Gift Novelty Factor: 3.5

Wave TV

Ignore the chicken. Go on. Do it.

Ignore the chicken. The only reason the chicken is there is because designer Marcel Wanders uses animals for his photo themes. Now if you've gotten over the chicken, you should have noticed the Wave TV that the chicken is perched upon. What's the Wave TV you ask? Well, the Wave TV is basically a combination of a normal television and a microwave, while also featuring an integrated DVD player.

Perfect for small studio apartments due to its size, the Wave TV just makes us peck at the ground, puzzled as we try to figure out the whole genius behind its concept. While admittedly brilliant or crazy, the Wave TV is just taking the whole convergence concept a wee bit too far, even giving the microwave TV dinner a whole new meaning altogether.

Bizarreness Factor: 4.5

Colossal MP3 Player

What you see is what you get, especially if you happen to be looking for a colossal MP3 player. Powered by four AA batteries, the Colossal has a whopping 256MB of built-in memory and besides being able to play not only MP3s, the Colossal also has support for WMA and supposedly plays WMV too. Did we mention that in times of trouble, the Colossal also comes in handy for self defense?

Unfortunately, it got too popular for its own good and was sold out pretty quick.

Colossal Factor: 5 + 5
