Sony VPL-D Series - For the Budget Desktop

Sony VPL-D Series - For the Budget Desktop

D is for desktop. But in this case, the Sony VPL-DX10 (the basic model) is targeted at budget conscious consumers. And even though it's supposedly within the budget range, the VPL-DX10 still comes with some pretty nifty specifications. The DX10 can output at up to 2500 lumens (and 3000 lumens for its DX11 sibling) and likewise, supports XGA resolutions (1024 x 768). Though it won't be as mobile as the earlier MX series, the DX10 will be the first to be introduced in the region sometime within the month of April. Unfortunately, during the conference, there was still no revelation of its price point, but we did get an estimate of its range, which should still be above the S$1000 range, but not as pricey as the MX20.

The desktop series, such as the Sony VPL-DX10 here, will also be targeted at budget conscious consumers who wish to have a decent avenue for their presentation needs.

Though what we saw at the conference were the basic models, Sony has also unveiled networking features for its MX and DX series, namely the MX25 and the DX15. These models will be equipped with a USB port and would be able to read Microsoft Office documents right off the bat. Furthermore, the MX25 and DX15 models will also utilize the Microsoft Windows Vista Network Projector feature, thus you can imagine the amount of wiring you'll save on these new models. But not with the money, mind you, because if our estimates aren't wrong, you'll see a higher price tag on these models. However, that's always the case with more convenience features, so it's not exactly out of the norm.
