LG is launching its new artificial intelligence (AI) digital assistant in select home appliances this year. Dubbed ‘ThinQ’ (‘AI ThinQ’ on LG’s OLED and Super UHD TVs), you can think of it as LG’s version of Siri or Google Assistant. So far, LG has three ThinQ products that will come to Singapore, its 2018 OLED TVs, the V30S+, and the G7 ThinQ. Find out more about how LG’s artificial intelligence works on its 2018 OLED and Super UHD TVs.

The LG TwinWash washing machine line is expanding, with smaller capacity machines in 12kg, 10.5kg and 9kg. If you haven’t seen these unique washing machines, TwinWash comes with a main washer and mini washer that lets you wash two loads of laundry, either independently or at the same time. The mini washer unit can be bought separately and added on. It’ll be compatible with more washing machines this year, including front load washers.

LG’s Styler is a fascinating device — imagine a closet that cleans and irons your clothes for you. Using steam and motion, the Styler can remove unpleasant odors, sterilize clothes as well as straighten them. The new version of the Styler is bigger and stores up to six garments inside. It also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity to make it easier to control.

LG’s showroom had a nifty pair of useful bed drawers. If you think these are simply wooden bed drawers, think again. One is actually a refrigerator, and the other is an air-purifier. Not bad for those nights when you just want a cold drink in bed.

That black round cylinder you see in the middle of room is LG’s first premium smart AI audio product, the ThinQ Speaker (WK7), which comes with Google Assistant built in. The ThinQ Speaker can turn on LG appliances around the home, like a SmartThinQ air purifier, just by using voice commands. Sound-wise, the speaker comes with Meridian Audio technology and supports High Resolution Audio. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on a local release.

The LG A9 Cord Zero handstick vacuum uses mini whirlwinds of air to separate dust particles it picks up. The vacuum features a five-step filtration process that can remove particles down to 2.5 microns in size. The interchangeable battery can be swapped out if you have a spare. Each battery is good for up to 40 minutes of runtime. The A9 is slated to come to Singapore but no exact launch date was given.

The LG R9 is a robot vacuum that makes use of LG‘s DeepThinQ artificial intelligence platform to learn how to navigate around the house. It uses LG’s smart inverter motor, and has dual cameras to help it navigate. It also comes with LG’s HomeView and HomeGuard features. And yes … it does look like the Dyson 360 Eye robot vacuum cleaner. LG says the R9 will be coming to Singapore with the exact launch date to be announced.
Okay, these aren’t home appliances. But if you’ve been to South Korea’s Incheon International Airport recently, you might have spied LG’s Airport Guide Robot and Airport Cleaning Robot running around. They’re now being joined by three more robots under the new CLOi robot brand. There’s a Serving Robot that can deliver meals and drinks, a Porter Robot that delivers luggage to hotel guests, and a Shopping Cart Robot that customers can use to scan items and guide them to products.
