Sitex 2007: The Full Coverage

Apple and ASUS Booths

Apple's Booth

Nope, there's no iPhone yet in Singapore but you can expect the young, the old (and the snobbish) to throng the Apple booth here at Sitex. There's also the iPod touch going at $498 for the 8GB version and $698 for the 16GB.

The Apple iMac needs no introduction, even if the new version has a rather unfamiliar black border around its screen. The entry-level 2.0GHz model starts from $2048, with an upgrade to 2GB of memory thrown in.

You can probably see the prices here if you squint hard enough. If not, the highlights include the Macbook starting from $1788 with freebies like a $80 voucher, $99 RAM upgrade and the wireless Mighty Mouse.

ASUS' Booth

Unfortunately, the eagerly awaited ASUS Eee PC was not yet launched when we dropped down at the ASUS booth. However, it should be available for sale at Sitex on Dec 1st.

Black, red and silver makes for a gaming notebook like the ASUS G2S, which is truly made for gamers, what with its GeForce 8600M GT graphics and a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor. Windows Vista is installed so go ahead and stock up on DirectX 10 games now.

ASUS has many LCD displays on sale, ranging from 19 to 22-inch. One of the more competitively priced models is the MW221C, with its anti-reflection panel, HDCP support and ASUS' one year zero bright dot warranty. Best of all, this 2ms 22-inch display is only $495, including bonus gifts like a pair of Altec Lansing speakers and DVI cable.
