The AMD booth at Sitex this year heavily focused on the new dual-core Turion mobile processors. AMD's booth was also a launchpad for many new Turion 64 X2 notebooks.

AMD and Hewlett-Packard also had displays setup for some gaming fun and the announcement of their joint sponsorship of Team Zenith, the DOTA champions of 2006 CAPL seasons.

Acer range of Aspire notebooks running the Turion 64 X2 processors featuring large 15.4-inch WXGA LCDs and ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 plaform and graphics engine. The Aspore 5101AWLMi and 5102WLMi were on offer for S$1198 and S$1298 respectively.

BenQ had their Joybook T31-E16 on sale at AMD's booth as well for S$1799. The Joybook runs on a 1.6Ghz Turion 64 X2 TL50 CPU, 13.3-inch WXGA monitor, 512MB RAM, 100GB HDD and comes with a free 512MB Thumbdrive.

The HP Compaq Presario V3123 with Turion 64 X2 TL50, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150, 14.1-inch WXGA LCD, WLAN 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 goes for S$1499.

HP also had their own NX6315 notebook on display as well, featuring the Turion 64 X2 mobile CPU. Free gifts include a HP Officejet AIO too.

After much delay, the iPod shuffle (v2.0) has finally made its appearance in Singapore at Sitex 2006. Only the 1GB edition that's retailing for $138 is available currently.

One of the best deals at the Apple booth is the new MacBook powered by Intel's Core 2 Duo processor. Retailing at $2,588, it comes with a free $193 voucher that can be exchanged for an additional 1GB RAM.

If you are into photography and gaming, you might want to check out the MacBook Pro that's rumored to come with built-in wireless Draft-N capabilities. Retailing from $3,488, they also come with vouchers that allow you to redeem them for additional RAM or even software with a top up.

Big and wide are two descriptors for the latest iMac which now comes with a 24-inch LCD widescreen display and is powered by GeForce 7300 GT graphics. All the Mac goodness for $3,388 and comes with a voucher worth $344.

ASUS' booth this year is focusing on a mobility theme.

For the multimedia freaks, the W7J has a larger 13.3-inch widescreen LCD, runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 CPU, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 GPU with 256MB TurboCache, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB HDD and DVD SuperMulti drive. For S$3198, you get a notebook bag, Bluetooth mouse and an extra 6-cell battery too.

The ASUS A8 series of gaming notebooks were also on display. Models offered from the AMD Turion 64 X2 based A8M to the Intel Core 2 Duo based A8FM and A8J notebooks all come with large 14.1-inch WXGA LCDs, 512MB to 1GB of RAM and choices of Intel 945GM, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 or ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 GPUs. Prices range from S$1698 to S$2698.

The ASUS R1 Tablet PC on display has a 180-degrees convertible LCD and powered by Intel Core Duo or Core 2 Duo processors.

The R2 UMPC was also under lock and key, showcasing the ultra mobile 'always on-the-go' lifestyle.

Brother's booth with great offers from entry level personal printers, to multi-function printers to their powerful laser multi-function centers.

The Brother MFC-9420CN is a laser 5-in-1 Print/Fax/Copy/Scan/Network center going for S$1288 only. Comes with a free black toner and network installation up to two workstations.

The new Chimei CMV-221D is a 22-inch widescreen (1680x1050) LCD monitor with a speedy 5ms response time that is on sale for S$609 only. Not only that, Chimei offers full 3 years on-site warranty for all monitors bought at Sitex.

Choose a mid-range Compaq desktop like the Presario SR1972CF for $1899 and you'll get goodies like 60 days of Maxonline FlexiSurf 4000 for free. Those who have a valid student ID can also get a free copy of Microsoft Office 2003 Professional.

Core 2 Duo notebooks are the rage now and Compaq has a few models to offer you. The basic aesthetic design is the same for almost all the models, encased in shiny black. One of their offers at Sitex includes the Presario V3132TU, which has a Core 2 Duo T5500 processor, with system RAM upgradeable for another $100. The cost - $1799.

Professional gamer Jonathan 'Fatality' Wendel lends his name to this Creative range of gaming mice. Prices range from $47 – 63 and you can expect high DPI and an interchangeable module weight system on all of them.

Yet another 'Fatality' branded product, this eye catching gaming keyboard has illuminated keys and goes for $89.

Yes, it's all Creative in this portable Slix based PC. The sales assistant said that it was assembled from components sold by Creative though it doesn't seem to be sold as a standalone system.

This is the new Creative X-Fi Sound System Z600 with a built-in dock to charge the Creative Vision: M player. The specifications for these speakers look quite impressive, with X-Fi features like the Crystalizer and CMSS-3D. But all that newfangled technology will set you back $599.

Another recent product, the Creative TravelSound Zen V docking speakers cost $199 and plays music from your Zen V while it charges.

No doubt one of the show highlights for Dell is their offer for the powerful XPS M2010 'mobile desktop'. Going for a pricey S$5527, it runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz) CPU, has a 20.1-inch widescreen LCD with ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 for ultimate mobile gaming. Dell is also upping the RAM to 2GB for this offer plus a 120GB HDD.

If you want power, but not the size, the smaller XPS M1210 weighs only 1.98kg, but packs an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 CPU. This notebook comes with 1GB DDR2 RAM, an 80GB HDD, 12.1-inch WXGA+ screen and uses Intel's GMA950 graphics. The M1210 is offered for S$1849.

JVC's 37-inch LCD TV with a resolution of 1366 x 768 is available at Sitex 2006 at a retail price of $2,699 only. It comes with HDMI and PC inputs as well as a multi-memory card slot for viewing photos.

If the price for GZ-MG505 is too steep for you, you might want to check out this small GZ-MC500 camcorder with a 3CCD 5.0-megapixel sensor and a 4GB built-in memory. Usually retailing for S$2,199, the Sitex deal is a must grab at S$999.

Kaira is the local distributor for big brands like Logitech and XFX. Motherboard maker Biostar is also a recent offering from the company.

A demo system featuring many of the products brought in by Kaira. This includes the Logitech gaming wheel, the custom system with a XFX GeForce 8800 GTS and a Biostar nForce 680i SLI motherboard. All of which can be bought at the Kaira booth, though prices for the Biostar and XFX GeForce 8800 GTS were unavailable just then.

Logitech is a familiar name to most PC users and their G1 gaming keyboard is priced at an attractive $49.

XFX's mid-range GeForce 7600 GT are up for grabs at special prices.

The Le-MON booth at Sitex offering a variety of mp3 players and speaker systems.

Besides MP3 players, Le-MON's range of digital voice recorders on sale offers from standard 76 hour recordings (SR380N and R200) to the feature-packed SRM190N that can handle 144 hours of voice recording and playback MP3 as well. The SR380N and R200 is on sale for S$149 and S$139 respectively and the SRM190N goes for S$199. Batteries included.

Le-MON's full range of MP4 PMPs on sale, most of them not exceeding S$200. For those of you not looking at full-fledged business notebooks but something more on the value side of things for personal use, the Lenovo N100 presents an interesting option. At S$1799, it comes with a Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2) processor, 1GB DDR2 memory (after the free upgrade), 80 GB HDD, DVD-RW DL burner, a14.1-inch WXGA TFT display, integrated card reader, 1.3MP webacm, fingerprint scanner and the 8-in-1 gift set thrown in free. This guy is slightly heavier though at 2.5kg but presents good value if you don't mind the dull but executive looking color theme.

LG has been a streak churning out several sexy notebooks as of late and one of their more premium models is this glossy C1 Express Dual, which is actually a Tablet PC. Boasting a Core Duo U2500 (1.2GHz) processor with 1GB of DDR2 memory on an i945GM platform and a dedicated GeForce Go 7300 with 256MB TurboCache, this Tablet is definitely more responsive than when Tablets first appeared. As you might guess, it uses a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, supports 802.11a/b/g networks, Bluetooth, Cinema Sound and integrates a card reader. At a very handy 1.31kg, it comes with an external DVD DL writer. The Sitex offer of $3999 comes with a 6-cell battery, TV-tuner or AIO printer, wireless mouse, a carry case and a 3-year warranty. At 1.89kg, the LG LW25 Pro Express Dual is a lightweight but full-fledged notebook oozing style and quality. The unit shown above is stocked with a Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz) CPU with 512MB DDR2-667 memory, a 60GB HDD, a removable Super Multi DVD writer, a 12.1-inch WXGA screen, card reader, Cinema Sound and Windows XP Pro. All yours for a reasonable S$2,599.

For a notebook with a larger screen, there is the T1 Express Dual that shouts portability and design excellence. It's equipped with a 14.1-inch WXGA+ screen (1280 x 800 pixels), a fingerprint scanner, DVD Super Multi DVD writer, 5-in1 card reader and Dual Hexa-band Wi-Fi antenna.

A multimedia powerhouse for only $2299? That's right bargain hunters, this 17-inch entertainment notebook using the Pentium M processor is quite a steal. But hurry though, it seems that there's only one set. Expect an integrated Radeon X600 graphics engine, remote control, card-reader, DVD writer and a fair bit other features. But take note that it's 3.1kg heavy.

If you're hunting for a monitor upgrade, think big and wide. Sounds expensive? Not with LG's offerings. The L194WT (19-inch) and L204WT (20-inch) high contrast widescreen monitors are going for $349 and $469 respectively. 5ms response time, 2000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness, DVI connection, HDCP compliant and a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees are common specs for both panels. The 19-incher has a resolution of 1440x900 whereas the 20-incher boasts a resolution of 1680x1050 and is an 8-bit panel.

Another reddot design winner for this year is the Fantasy series of LG monitors. These designer monitors sport a 8-bit panel, 4ms response time, 2000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness, 170-degrees wide viewing angle and a button-less OSD driven by Windows drivers. If you have an appeal for unusual and sexy designs, this $499 monitor would add to your collection nicely. This 19-inch panel is unfortunately not widescreen, but then again, it won't bode well for this design.

Lexmark has some great offers on All-in-One printers that will surely make your day. The X3470 can print, copy, scan, connect via Pictbridge and even comes with memory card slots. Preview photos with the photo proof sheet and experience speedy 17ppm black and color printing up to 4800 dpi quality. The X3470 is on sale at Sitex for only S$139.

The Lexmark X5470 is also another great All-in-One inkjet printer offer for S$229. Besides Printing, scanning copy and fax operations, it has an automatic document feeder as well and is Mac compatible.

From Korea is the Maxian T600, a portable media player with a bevy of digital entertainment functions such as recording of TV programmes, movies, songs and photos. Highlights of the S$699 T600 include either a 20 or 30GB hard drive, a nice 4.0-inch widescreen TFT LCD and an exhaustive support for popular digital formats. Sold separately is the S$199 digital TV receiver attachment.

A PSP it is not. At just 17mm thick, the M800 with 30GB capacity is Maxian's flagship portable media player fitted with a brilliant 4.3-inch screen (480 by 272 pixels) from Sharp that's designed to storm through all popular digital multimedia formats. Yours for S$799.

The Nikon L1 is possibly one of the most affordable digital cameras at Sitex 2006. Retailing at a price of $199, you get the camera along with other cool freebies too.

If conventional prosumer cameras are too bulky for you, you might want to consider the Nikon S10 with a swivel lens that also has a powerful 10x optical zoom. Featuring a 6.0-megapixel sensor, the S10 is now retailing for $649 with a host of freebies.

This slim and sexy Nikon COOLPIX S8 with vibration reduction is retailing now for only $629. It features a 7.1-megapixel sensor and supports up to ISO 1600.

For DSLR options, you might want to check out the latest Nikon D80 that has won our 'Most Value for Money' award previously. It is now on offer for only $1799 for the body alone or $2288 with the kit lens.

The mid-range Nikon D200 DSLR is also available at Sitex 2006 retailing for $2588 (body only). It comes with two 1GB compact flash memory cards, a Lowepro bag and a dry cabinet, which is an amazing package deal.

O2's new Xda Atom Exec PDA phone is the highlight at the O2 booth but other recent products like the O2 Stealth can also be found.

The banner says it all - a chance to win a Mini Cooper by purchasing a O2 product.

Do not mistake the Packard Bell Easy Note for an NEC notebook as both brands have similar designs. The Easy Note comes with a 14.1-inch widescreen display, an ECO mode (that saves power) and Skype capabilities for only $1,099.

Almost as slim as the iPod nano, the Packard Bell Vibe 360 playbacks music, photos and even videos on the go.

This small Parkard Bell Compasseo GPS unit is a godsend for those who have been flipping through Singapore and Malaysia road index and maps. It has a 20 channel satellite integrated receiver boasting up to a 10m accuracy.

Palm's booth had quite a bit of commotion going on because ...

... of this baby. What you're looking at is the new Treo 680 that's still running on the Palm operating system. It's currently only available as a Pre-order during SITEX for S$888. Freebies include a Maison Antonin Rodet Pinot Noir 2002 and a limited edition Palm Picnic rucksack worth a total of S$167.

Another gem at the booth is the new 750v smartphone that's powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 and features 3G connectivity. The best bit is that it no longer has that annoying stubby antenna.

The whole range of Iriver MP3 players on display. The Korean brand has built up a strong following due to its superb sound reproduction.

The 6GB Iriver E10 is Iriver's answer to the iPod and perhaps more, thanks to its FM Radio and recording feature. It's going for $399 at Sitex.

The handy T10 comes in sizes of 512MB, 1GB and 2GB and prices range from $169 to 279.

PenDrive has a large range of flash memory products at Sitex, all priced rather competitively.

The new Pentax A20 camera comes with a 10-megapixel sensor, shake reduction technology and auto-tracking AF features that is useful for taking moving subjects. It can also capture videos in DivX (MEPG-4) format and is retailing now for only $699 with freebies such as a 1GB SD card, tripod and many more.

The new Optio S7 is a 7.0-megapixel slim camera with face recognition AF that helps to keep everyone in the frame focused. It is retailing at Sitex 2006 for only $499.

The new Optio T20 7.0-megapixel camera comes with a large 3.0 LCD touch screen display that lets you navigate through the menus using you fingers. It even comes with creative drawing functions for you to doodle on the photos.

If you missed out on getting a Philips LCD photo frame during COMEX, you'll be happy to learn that it's currently being sold at SITEX 2006.

One of the most affordable 20-inch widescreen monitor with WSXGA resolution is the 200WB7 from Philips. At only S$599, you'll be getting a widescreen panel with 8ms pixel response time and 600:1 contrast ratio. Philips is even throwing in a free DVI cable and USB hub worth a total of S$108.

The Philips 190CW7CS is a 19-inch TFT active matrix flat panel display with a fast 5ms pixel response time. Every purchase of this highly affordable panel entitles you to a free DVI cable and a USB hub worth a total of S$108.

Pioneer has a big booth at SITEX 2006 and as with many manufacturers these days, the highlight is a range of 1080p plasma TV units.

If you've been looking to get a plasma television, you need only look at this 43-inch plasma TV from Pioneer, which is going for an affordable price of $4,599.

For those who already own a HDTV with built-in HDMI connection, you might want to pair it with Pioneer's DVD player with HDMI output. Prices range between $199 and $229.

Pioneer's very own Blu-ray player caught our attention but sadly we still do not know when it'll be available in Singapore.

With a beefy 250GB hard disk within, the Pioneer DVR-645H-S DVD recorder is perfectly suited for weeklong recording of football matches and TV serials. SITEX price for this unit with HDMI output is currently at S$1,099.

The Playcraft booth offered plenty of games on all platforms. From a consumer perspective, you can expect to see Playcraft storefronts offering a wide variety of games in major malls by the 3rd quarter of 2007.

The PS2 console was seen going for only S$285 with two free games as part of the bundle, perfect for casual gamers who don't believe in adopting in the latest technology or shelling out thousands for an elusive PS3 console.

We spotted Mario stuffed toys going at S$39.90 each at 11am but none was left when we walked past an hour later.

Unfortunately, the only Eizo we found at Sitex turned out to be a 17-inch FlexScan P1700. Three years of warranty for this 8ms LCD and a price tag of $329 is needed to bring home this cult Japanese brand.

Local brand Prestigio had many products on display, from notebooks to monitors and in this case, even a LCD TV. This 20-inch widescreen LCD TV goes for $599 while the 17-inch model costs $419.

It seems like almost every vendor has a widescreen LCD monitor for sale now. Prolink's offering is however a humble 19-inch LCD with a suitably modest price tag.

The Eagle is back! We don't find this budget brand around that often but here they are at Sitex. These low end cards however do not look that enticing, in both price and performance.

Some of the other products offered by Prolink include networking gear and TV tuners.

Straddling both the hardware and consumer electronics arena, Samsung has become a giant brand to rival more illustrious brands like Sony. So of course they would have a mega booth at Sitex.

No.1 in Singapore for LCD displays - that's an achievement that Samsung will fight to keep and that just means more choice and competitive prices for consumers, as you can see from this selection of LCD displays.

The new YP-K5 is loud, thanks to its slide-out speakers. It is also a very capable MP3 player with up to 30hrs of playback using earphones. The 2GB version costs $308 while the 4GB is much better value at just $100 more.

The Samsung R40 boasts of a spanking new Core 2 Duo T5500 processor and up to 1GB of DDR2 memory. Its main weakness seems to be the integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics. As usual, Toshiba is focusing on their notebooks, though we were surprised at the lack of Core 2 Duo offerings from them. We only saw the Portege M500-1021E equipped with a Core 2 Duo T5600 processor. Most of the other notebooks were Core Duo versions.

At $1099, this is the cheapest Toshiba notebook at Sitex. The specifications however are quite limited, with a Celeron M processor and only 256MB of system memory. Definitely not for power users.

The Satellite M100-3021E has 1GB of DDR2 RAM and a Radeon X1400 Mobility chipset from ATI. Together with a 100GB SATA hard drive, this Core Duo powered notebook is a good mid-range portable notebook weighing 2.26kg. It is priced at $2699.

Toshiba's Qosmio series is geared for multimedia and the $3299 F30-P540 is one of the top performers. A 15.4-inch WXGA TFT screen, Harman Kardon speakers and a GeForce Go 7600 graphics card make it suitable for home entertainment. Now, if only Toshiba updates the Core Duo processor to a Core 2 Duo.

At Harvey Norman's booth, you can also find Toshiba's LCD TVs. This 32-inch Regza is competitively priced at $1799.

The S$29 Mobi Lens from V-Gear attaches to your camera-phone by magnet for wide-angle and macro shots.

Digital and analog TV tuners from V-Gear. The pure Digital version costs S$85 while the one with analog options is S$138. Both come with a tiny little remote.

Spotted in a corner was a funky V-Mouse from V-Fear that works on any surface including your jeans. This pen-like device would make using laptops on planes so much easier and is a steal at S$38.

The widely lauded Viewsonic VX2025 was spotted for only S$499. That’s a whole lot less then the price we saw during our last IT tradeshow! A free goodie bag and DVI cable is given free with purchase.

iPod fans should check out the VX 2245WM – an iPod dock sits beneath 22” of pure DVI widescreen real estate and built-in speakers! This 1680 x 1050pixel capable LCD with 5ms response time and 700:1 contrast ratio goes for S$799 with S$100 iPod voucher and DVI cable thrown in. A variant, VS2235WM that comes without the iPod dock can be had for S$649.

Yet another star buy from Viewsonic, the VA1912WB widescreen LCD monitor with 1440 x 900pixel resolution and 5ms response time is going for only S$349. A free goodie bag and DVI cable is thrown in with purchase!

A relative newcomer to local scene, Hanspree 19-inch LCD monitor is going for $299. It has a 700:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time. There's also a 3-year onsite warranty. However, there are only 100 units available.

For those long car journeys, NextBase has the answer with its range of car mounted DVD players. Prices start from $399 while mounting accessories and 1GB USB flash drives are some of the free gifts thrown in.
