SEK2006: Towards a U-Korea

By Justin Ong - 26 Jun 2006

u-Korea (Part II)

In a u-Korea where Internet is set to reach 100Mbps, students can interact with teachers and tutors anytime and regardless of geographic distances. Papers can be taught and corrected instantly and electronically.

At the heart of ubiquitous Korea (u-Korea) is WiBro, a high-speed wireless Internet connection that allows you to remain online seamlessly from office to home and vice versa.

Getting onto WiBro connection is as easy as slotting in a PCMCIA WiBro adapter.

If your future u-Home is fitted with a bar or cafe, there's a good chance you'll be served by a waiter robo after you've made known your orders. Though we wonder how it's going to handle cocktails or drinks like whiskey on the rocks.

You can even have your very own robobutler or housekeeper. The best bit of having one such robot is that you may call in at anytime and let the robot be your eyes and ears to your home. Especially useful if you have an elderly and a naughty pet at home.

Last but not least, robots will be doing all the cleaning as well, just so you can spend more quality time with your loved ones.
