Samsung Redefines Mobile Lifestyle

Following up with the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we've seen quite a substantial number of mobile devices heading to our shores from the Samsung bandwagon. Positioning themselves as the second largest mobile phone manufacturer to date, Samsung is gearing up for a strong year ahead with the introduction of 11 new handsets, segmented into various categories.

Mr Yoon Ki-Heung, Managing Director, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd, speaks to the media and explains the mobile lifestyle envisioned by Samsung for the consumers.

Held at the Shangri-La Hotel, the media was greeted with an opening address by Mr. Yoon Ki-Heung, Managing Director, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd. "Building on our strong performance in the region and here in Singapore last year, Samsung continues to complement our technology and design leadership with in-depth research into the evolving consumer needs. We will embed ourselves into the latest consumer trends and preferences to deliver innovative products tailored for different segments, as we strive to further increase our market share and strengthen our industry position," said Mr. Yoon.

Identifying and catering to the differing lifestyles of every consumer, Samsung presents their offerings in six key categories: Infotainment, Business, Style, Multimedia, Connected and Essential. So without further ado, we'll dive into the different lifestyle categories as depicted by Samsung to give you a rundown of what's heading our way.

Giving More than Ever: The SGH-G810

Infotainment, as Samsung depicts, would encompass the best of performance and entertainment under one device and this is represented by the Samsung SGH-G810. Sporting impressive camera capabilities akin to the SGH-G800 with 3x optical zoom, face detection auto-focus and Xenon flash, the SGH-G810 is also equipped with the latest features one would appreciate for a full connectivity experience: Wi-Fi, HSDPA and an integrated GPS receiver equipped with geo-tagging. Similar to the Samsung SGH-i550W that brings with it a strong connectivity presence, the SGH-G810 is also powered by the latest Symbian S60 operating system, thus giving the device a greater foothold as both an entertainment and information device. The SGH-G810 is currently slated for availability from July 2008.

Depicting a scenario where a young couple enjoys a multimedia clip downloaded with the SGH-G810's Wi-Fi capability, we figure this device will see itself to be a popular choice amongst the discerning consumers who wish for strong features in their devices.

The Soulful Experience: The SGH-U900

"The Spirit of Ultra" - or as Samsung dubs the SGH-U900, the Soul. Completing its Ultra Edition line-up with the Soul's stylish and elegant design, Samsung has certainly created an interesting device that melds aesthetics and functionality seamlessly into one. Well we did get a of the Soul earlier on at the Mobile World Congress 2008, but it still did grab our attention when we saw this touch-enabled phone's Dynamic Adaptive Control Panel (DaCP) control panel once more, so get ready for its impending arrival from May 2008.

We aren't saying that the Soul's sleek and elegant design will nab some girls for you (for all you know, the guy behind the camera is a smooth talker), but we definitely can't deny its innovative Magical Touch by DaCP that should be the object of desire for many.

The Essential Connection: The SGH-B200 and SGH-M620

Remembering that the mobile phone's core function is cellular connectivity, Samsung introduced a few entry level models, designed solely for phone calls, minus the frills of the high tech gadgetry on the latest mobile devices. Nonetheless, essential entertainment options such as FM radio is still integrated into both categories, and thus Samsung's foray into the "Connected" and "Essential" branch is represented with its SGH-B200 and SGH-M620 devices, providing the basic essentials to fulfill a mobile phone's primary purpose. The Samsung SGH-B200 and SGH-M620 will be available from May and July 2008 respectively.
