A sub-brand of Oppo, Realme is now officially available in Singapore with the Realme XT. The company calls it a "high tech and high fashion smartphone", perfect for your everyday needs.
The Realme XT has a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display (2,340 x 1,080 pixels, 402 ppi). It uses a pinhole style 16MP front camera to maximise the screen area, giving it a screen-to-body ratio of 91.9%. It also features an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Realme XT measures 158.7 x 75.2 x 8.6mm and weighs just 183g. It's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 octa-core processor and comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. And as you can see, the SIM card and microSD card slot is above the volume controls on the left of the phone.
At the bottom, you'll get a speaker vent, a USB-C port for charging, and what's now becoming a rare sight - a 3.5mm audio jack for your headphones. It's also certified for Dolby Atmos, so you should get better sound to go with your movies.
Flip over to the other side, and you'll get the power button. This view also gives you a pretty good view of the rear camera bump, and it's a fairly large one because it houses a quad-camera setup. We must say that with a thickness of just 8.6mm, the phone isn't overly thick and fits in our hands nicely.
And here's a full view of the quad-camera setup: 64-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, 2-megapixel macro lens and 2-megapixel portrait lens. The wide-angle lens has a 119° field of view while the macro lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 4cm focal range, so you can really get up close with your subject.
Now for a quick look at shots from the camera. Here's a shot of Central mall using the 64-megapixel camera. As you can see, colours have a tad too much red, but are pretty nice overall, with a good amount of saturation. (Capture info: Main camera at f/1.8, 1/914s, ISO 200)
And here's a 100% crop of the image. As you can see, the sensor has captured enough detail so you can make out the text on the sign across the river, which is fairly impressive considering what a small portion of the image it takes up. However, there's quite a bit of smudging present too, presumably from noise reduction.
Now here's a shot just to show how close you can get with the Realme XT's macro camera. The macro lens only has 2-megapixel resolution, but you still get plenty of fine detail as you can get the camera up to 4cm away from your subject. Here, the focus is on the fibres of the coconut.
And here's the 100% crop. This was taken at f/2.4, 1/50s at ISO 125.
