 MSI (Level 4, 6, Hall 403, 601)

MSI GT70

The thing about gaming machines, is that it doesn't matter if it weighs 3.6kg or looks blacker than Darth Vader's soul. What matters is that it crushes all the graphical data your games throw at it. That's what the MSI GT70 does, and does pretty well we may add. This 17.3GB Ivy Bridge packing machine also has an NVIDIA Geforce GTX670 (3GB) that does most of the heavy lifting. What's most interesting is that it give you a 128GB Super Raid (2 x 64GB SSD) array, as well as a 750GB HDD for supercharged performance. It also comes with an anti-glare (matte) screen, 16GB of RAM and a Blu-Ray combo drive. If you can find a better gaming machine -- that has its keyboard made by Steel Series -- at a better price at the PC Show, let us know.

Samsung (Level 3, 4, Hall 401, 402, 403)

Samsung Series 9 (2012)

Whatever you do, don't call the Samsung Series 9 notebooks, Ultrabooks. They're not. Even if they are as thin, as light, as fast (new ultra-low-voltage Ivy Bridge processors and SSD), and as sexy as Ultrabooks. That's because these full aluminum notebooks are made to be a notch more premium than Ultrabooks are meant to be. The 2012 Series 9 notebooks are made to be even more robust than last year's version. There's also a 15-inch version for folks who need a bigger screen.

  • PC Show Price: 13-inch (i7, 128GB SSD) - $2,188 15-inch (i5, 128GB SSD) - $1,788, 15-inch (i7, 256GB SSD) - $2,488
  • Promotion: Free Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security, 2nd, 3rd year extended local warranty, Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition
