PC Show 2007 - The Full Story
With over 400 exhibitors showcasing a delectable array of IT products ranging from ultra small Bluetooth earpieces, fashionable Portable Multimedia Players (PMP) to the latest Intel Santa Rosa notebooks with ROBSON technology, the four-day event is already looking to be a massive hit again. Whether it be enhancing your mobile lifestyle or improving the way you relax at home, the PC Show is all suited up to make sure you'll walk away with something in your hands.
Acer's Booth
There are a couple of Acer booths scattered around the exhibition hall so you may see the familiar green a few times.
Acer has three different configurations for its Mini desktop PCs. All of them will use the chassis shown here, with prices ranging from $1399 to 2099. Free gifts include a $50 shopping voucher and a 4GB thumb drive.
This rugged looking notebook is one of Acer's newer models, the Santa Rosa based Aspire 5920G-302G16, which has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7300 and 2GB of DDR2 memory. It uses an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT chipset so DirectX 10 support is present and Windows Vista Home Premium is pre-installed. The price for this - $2698.
Targeted at business users, this Travelmate comes installed with Windows Vista Business and is reasonably portable.
20.1-inch monitors continue to be popular with consumers and Acer's AL2017 is very affordable at only $339. Its native resolution of 1440 x 1050 is however a bit low.
This 22-inch Acer widescreen monitor is priced competitively at $459.
ASUS' Booth
ASUS was big on promoting their lineup of new LCD displays at the PC Show 2007. Also not to be missed are the brand new Santa Rosa platform based notebooks and their well built PDA phones.
This is the most affordable widescreen 19-inch monitor ASUS had on show, the VW192T. For $309, you get 5ms panel with a resolution of 1440 x 900, 800:1 contrast ratio and brightness of 330 candelas. Also comes built-in with a pair of 1W speakers. The promo price comes with a pair of movie tickets and a DVI-D cable.
Still on the 19-inch class, the ASUS PG191 is designed for the gamers at heart who've limited desk space to spare. Dual 5W stereo speakers and a 15W powered subwoofer are built in to the design of this looker. Also comes with an integrated 1.3MP webcam. The panel is a standard 19-inch screen of 1280x1024 resolution with a 2ms response time. Priced at $629, it's not cheap, but to sweeten the deal, it comes with an ASUS U3000 digital TV tuner and DVI-D cable.
How about a 20-inch reddot design winner for a display? The LS201 no only looks sleek, but its screen is protected by a scratch-free glass, has a 5ms response time and 2000:1 contrast ratio. This 1400 x 1050 resolution LCD monitor costs $599 and is bundled with a Sennheiser PC130 header and a DVI-D cable.
If you are keen on a multimedia widescreen 20-inch panel, this award winning ASUS PW201 might just do the trick. The screen's resolution is 1680 x 1050 and has a 8ms response time. Dual built-in 3W speakers and a 1.3MP webam roundup its feature list but this beauty would set you back $759. Good thing that the PC Show offer includes an ASUS U3000 digital TV tuner and DVI-D cable to sweeten the offer.
If you just need a big screen with forward looking features, the ASUS MW221U 22-inch widescreen monitor at $559 would be an ideal choice. Its speedy 2ms panel and HDCP compliant digital input would really prolong the lifespan and versatility of the monitor. It also has a pair of 1W speakers integrated into the display. PC Show offer includes an ASUS U3000 digital TV tuner and DVI-D cable too!
ASUS is one of the few vendors quick to capitalize on the new Intel Santa Rosa platform. The G2S shown here is the vendor's most powerful notebook offering. Driven by a Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz, 800 FSB, 4MB L2), Intel 965PM chipset, GeForce 8600M GT 256MB, 2GB DDR2 and a 200GB HDD, this 17-inch desktop replacement is seriously tuned for gaming. It's also loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate edition for the added advantage. $3988 bags you this notebook as well as other goodies worth $760 that's only available at this PC Show.
If you fancy the G2S in a smaller form factor, the 15-inch G1S is as good as it can get. $3558 and comes with all the same goodies as the G2S big brother (including the bonus stuff).
At the pinnacle of ASUS' notebook offerings is the new Lamborghini VX2 with the latest specs and a killer design. $4688 is the entry price for one of these luxurious notebooks.
The ASUS W5Fe is the world's first SideShow notebook and we at www.hardwarezone.com had the pleasure to test drive this recently. This 12-inch handy sized 1.7kg notebook has a complimentary 2.8-inch QVGA screen and a1GB flash module on the top panel for the Windows Vista SideShow functionality. The notebook itself is specced with a Core 2 Duo T7200, 1.5GB memory, 160GB HDD and a TPM module. All for $3298.
The A8J is the main workhorse series of ASUS notebooks. Various configurations are available but some of the more common specs include the 14-inch WXGA screen, 1GB DDR2, 120GB HDD, VGA webcam, card reader and Bluetooth 2.0. A wide choice of Core 2 Duo CPU speeds and a graphics configurations ranging from NVIDIA's Go 7700 model to ATI's Mobility Radeon X2300 is available.
Belkin's Booth
Belkin, one of the bigger players where it comes to networking products had a whole lot of gadgets up for sale at discounted prices.
One of the better buys that grabbed our attention was a wireless G router from Belkin that was going for only $58. This isn't surprising with faster N standard routers entering the market now.
BenQ's Booth
BenQ surely couldn't miss the huge crowds that thronged the halls of Suntec City and had a booth with plenty of projectors.
Despite the low profile of the world's smallest wireless projector, it couldn't escape our seasoned bargain hunting instincts. Priced only at $2,199 this tiny titan boasts XGA 1024 x 768 resolution, 1500 ANSI Lumens Brightness, 2000:1 High Contrast ratio and is whisper quiet at 35dB. Brother's Booth
Canon's Booth
Canon had a huge booth this time round, although it was a little complicated with different sales people from different retailers trying to get your attention for the very same product.
Spotted was a value buy from Canon. This Canon LBP5000 Color Laser Printer does 8ppm in mono and color for only $599.
Canon's latest iP1880 is a sleek and sexy printer that looks as good as it functions. Best of all it only costs $109!
MP510, an entry level photo-all-in one from Canon offers a 1.9-inch LCD screen, direct card slots and even individual ink tanks. It's going for a special price of $269 at the PC Show 2007.
Casio's Booth
The EX-S770 ExiLim from Casio packs a punch with 7.2-megapixels, 3x optical zoom, anti-shake and a 2.8-inch LCD screen. It goes only for $549.
The EX-Z1050 is the S770's bigger brother with 10.1-megapixels for only a small premium � it costs only $599
Compaq's Booth
For budget users, this Compaq notebooks looks like a good deal. The specifications are obviously not cutting edge but you'll still get an Intel Core Duo processor, 80GB hard drive and a DVD writer. We bet everyone would also take advantage of the upgrade offers available.
There are a few configurations based on this notebook chassis. Prices meanwhile range from $1999 to 2299 and all of them use a Core 2 Duo mobile processor.
A decent budget system for less demanding home owners, this system cost $1299 but it uses an older Pentium D dual core processor.
Dell's Booth
One of Dell's smaller notebooks, the XP M1210 is highly portable at 12.1-inches and packs a respectable setup: Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 processor, Windows Vista Home premium, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM and 160GB SATA HDD. It goes only for $2099.
17-inch notebooks are getting more common today and this one from dell is only $2199. It comes with Intel Core 2 Duo T5600, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, 160GB SATA HDD, 256MB ATI Mobility RAdeon X1400 Hypermemory graphics and a stunning WXGA TrueLife display (1440 x 900 pixels).
D-Link's Booth
Security is a growing concern for homeowners and D-Link has the solution, a remote controlled wireless camera that communicates via the Internet. It's not cheap though at $409 but D-Link has some free gifts and a lucky draw for buyers.

Eastgear's Booth
The main attraction at the Eastgear booth is its heavily promoted G-Nav GPS navigation device.
A free copy of Mapking with Singapore and Malaysia maps are included together with a Kingston 1GB SD card. The G-Nav will cost $599.
Epson's Booth
EPSON put up quite a big booth this year.

The CX2900 comes in chic white and only costs $108. It boasts cheap refills that only cost $9.90 per ink cartridge.
An all-in-one from EPSON, the CX3900 prints up to 23ppm and is going only for $148.
Fujitsu's Booth
Fujitsu has always been a leader where it comes to tiny notebooks. This LifeBook P1610EVB comes with an Intel Core Solo Processor U1400, Microsoft Windows Vista Business, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 80GB HDD, 8.9-inch wide Transreflective XGA display and boasts 3G/HSDPA capabilities. It costs a shocking $3988 though.
The AMILO Pro V3545NPS is a value notebook from Fujitsu and costs only $1788 for an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500, Windows Vista Business, 15.4-inch WXGA TFT, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 80GB SATA HDD and NVIDIA GeForce GO 7300 128MB VRAM.
HANNS.G and Hannspree's Booth
Better known for their funky looking television or LCD displays (Hanns G is their LCD display arm), Hanspree does offer some decent LCDs for very competitive prices. The 19-inch HX191 has a native resolution of 1280 x 1024, 5ms response time and contrast ratio of 700:1 for only $268.
This 19-inch widescreen from HANNS.G can be bought for only $279 at the PC Show 2007 And offers 1440 x 900 native resolution, 5ms response time and 700:1 contrast ratio.
The HANNS.G booth has a wide range of funky products on display. The HANNS dribbling display sure is cute but comes at a price - $799.
HP's Booth
The Compaq Presario V3413AU is a sexy beast and is quite capable to boot for its $1499 price. Within is an AMD Turion X2 TK-53 (1.7GHz) processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB HDD, NVIDIA Geforce 6150 graphics, 14-inch display and Windows Vista Home Premium OS. Purchasers at the PC Show 2007 can pick between a free web camera, branded 2GB thumb drive, wireless optical mouse or $100 instant cash rebate and a HP carrying case.
HP's very own unique TouchSmart IQ770a PC which was unveiled in Korea a few months ago was going for $3299 with a lot of freebies thrown in. The entire PC can be navigated through its 19-inch touch sensitive display. Within is an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52, Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 320GB SATA HDD and 256MB NVIDIA Geforce Go 7600 graphics.
The 'Twist-n-Touch' TX1020AU with AMD Turion 64X2 TL-60, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, NVIDIA Geforce Go 7200 Graphics and 12-inch WXGA display within. It is going for $2499 at the PC Show 2007.
The HP LaserJet 1020 printer is bundled with a wireless adapter for only $249. The adapter enables the printer to print wirelessly. Unfortunate the wireless adapter itself is not for sale until later notice.
HWM's Booth
HWM's booth was packed with eager subscribers attracted by all the freebies.
HWM's friendly customer service assistant introducing the latest deals that come with HWM, GameAxis or PHOTOVIDEOi subscriptions.
i.Tech's Booth
i.Tech made quite an impressive appearance this year. Their Bluetooth products which have seen growing popularity in the mobile phone arena could be an explanation.
The popular i.Tech Clip D is going only for $88 and is even compatible with caller ID services.
The smaller i.Tech Clip II mini could be purchased for $78 and comes with a free car charger worth $19.90.
JVC's Booth
JVC has been competing fiercely with Sony in the HD camcorder category and it has a Full HD (1920 x 1080) consumer camcorder (GZ-HD7) at the PC Show for $2999.
This 42-inch LCD TV that is HD ready costs $3399 and comes with a 3-year warranty.
Kingston's Booth
Convergent, the local distributor for Kingston memory products has a large booth with numerous counters to attend to the expected demand.
We can't help but wonder why would anyone choose to brave the crowd at the PC Show when the prices are not exactly worth the hassle.

Lexmarks Booth
It's perfectly ok if you only have a ridiculously tight budget for a printer. The Lexmark X1270 all-in-one printer is going at just $79. It prints up to 17ppm (mono) and 9ppm (color) at up to 4800dpi. What's more, all purchases of any Lexmark printer entitle you to a 10% discount on all cartridges and toners as well.
Lexmark also have a highly affordable wireless color printer ideal for homes that have embraced wireless networking technology. The Z1420 has 802.11g Wi-Fi built-in, and prints up to 24ppm (mono) and 18ppm (color). Pay only $129 and get an optical mouse and trolley worth $32.90 free.
For those with a bit more cash to spare, there's the more capable X4550 that adds scanning, direct photo printing and copying, print speed is also faster at 26ppm (mono) and 18ppm (color). Yours for $249 together with a free optical mouse and trolley worth $32.90.
LeMon's Booth
LeMon's booth was as usual a party of bright colors.
The usual LeMon digital audio players were seen at the show. The latest product seen at the top corner is the Excite 7000 Portable Media Player that is going for $329 for the 2GB version.

The LMD 2808 is a portable 8-inch DVD player from LeMon that is going for $189. Included is a car harness, FM transmitter, car adapter, remote control, AC adapter and external battery.
We all know where to look when we need a badass-looking speaker setup on a shoestring budget - LeMon.
Lenovo's Booth
The Lenovo H100 is your typical desktop for families, with only the basic version of Windows Vista, a budget Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 processor and a low-end NVIDIA 7300LE graphics. The price: $1499.
The iconic ThinkPad brand is still around and the X60 ultra portable notebook is an excellent example of IBM era engineering. More importantly for business travelers is its 3-year international carry-in warranty. Worth its $2999 price tag we say.
Home entertainment is the name of the game for this Lenovo Q100 desktop. Hence, you'll find Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed, along with suitably large 250GB hard drive. A TV tuner and remote controller is also part of the package and Lenovo will throw in a free Canon 3-in-1 printer for this $2299 system.
This limited Disney edition Y200 notebook has a Winnie the Pooh imprint. Considered an ultra portable as it weighs only 1.4kg, this notebook has a 12.1-inch widescreen and a 120GB SATA hard drive. Expect to pay $2599 for this.
LG's Booth
With a 2ms response time, the LG L1982U is the company's top performing LCD and comes with DVI outputs. LG guarantees zero bright dot for up to 3 years and there's even a free LG mobile phone worth $109.
A reddot design award winner, the LG L1900J Fantasy looks great on the desk and its $459 is not too bad either, especially with the free mobile phone LG has thrown in.
LG has widescreen monitors ranging from 19-inch to 22-inch at the PC Show. All purchases come with a free LG Bluetooth earpiece worth $99 and the 19-inch model starts from $349.
LG is aggressively promoting its plasma and LCD TVs at the PC Show. Early birds stand to buy limited sets at half the usual price. This 50-inch plasma television was one of those included in the deal.
Suited for both students and business users, the LG C1 is a light 1.31kg with a 10.6-inch screen. It may not be the fastest with its Core Duo U2500 processor but it has decent battery life and comes with Windows Vista Business edition.
A blend of performance and lightweight is the LG LW25 Pro Express Dual. This is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 processor. Surprisingly, it comes with Windows XP Professional instead of Vista. The memory does look like it should be upgraded, as LG gives you 512MB of DDR2 memory. This notebook has a 3-year local warranty and costs $2099.
LG's position as a consumer electronics giant is best exemplified by its wide diverse offerings, from televisions to computer products to DVD recorders. Its affordable HDD DVD recorders are one reason for its popularity.
For those looking for a touch interface mobile phone ala Apple's upcoming phone, LG's Prada makes a case for itself with its elegant looks. Be warned though that it doesn't come cheap, with a price tag fixed at $1288.
LG is heavily promoting its new Shine series of mobile phones. All the models available at its booth come with no contracts, with the lower-end Shine Bar KE770 priced at $398.
Netgear's Booth
Netgear was out in full force with heavily discounted products at this year's PC Show. We noticed the very reassuring Ban Leong warranty label on each Netgear product.
While this isn't new, Netgear Wall-Plugged Ethernet switches that are available at the show still make our hearts skip a beat.
Nokia's Booth
GPS navigation devices seem to the trend nowadays and Nokia too wants a piece of the action with its aptly named Nokia Navigator. The interface however did not feel intuitive enough during our short trial.
Despite the freebies included, the Nokia Navigator's $899 price will certainly give consumers pause for thought.
02's Booth
O2's offers at the PC Show include all its major models with between $100 - 200 off its retail price.
The Atom Life is a PDA phone suited for executives who needs to be connected all the time, thanks to its many connectivity options like HSDPA and Wireless LAN capabilities.
The most expensive O2 device, the Xda Flame PDA phone is palm sized and is only just released at the PC Show. The huge 3.6-inch touchscreen is powered by a mobile NVIDIA GeForce 5500 processor.
For those who can't do without a physical keyboard, the compromise is the O2 Zinc, which is however going for a rather hefty $1098.
Oki's Booth
OKI's latest C3530MFP all-in-one printer is only going for $1599. It does color copy at 16cpm, mono copy speed at 20 cpm, and scans at up to 20ppm. Purchase at the PC Show to receive a free $100 shopping voucher.
The entry level OKI B4400 prints at 26ppm, boasts 266MHz processor speed and print quality of 2400 x 600 dpi. The B4400 comes with a free $50 shopping voucher and 2GB USB thumb drive.
Packard Bell's Booth
Packard Bell is focusing on its GPS navigation device at its main booth (#1752).
The Packard Bell Compasseo 600 GPS navigation system makes sure 'you'll never get lost again'. Other features unique to the local version include speed limit alerts, speed camera warnings and reminders to insert Cashcard ahead of ERP.
Palm's Booth
Palm's PDA in the TX and E2 are going for $479 and $299 respectively. Freebies for the former are a wireless keyboard and leather case worth $135 while freebies for the latter are a 1GB SD card and slim leather case worth $59.
At the top of the scale is the flagship Treo 750v smartphone. Powered by Windows Mobile and an ergonomic QWERTY keypad, the Treo 750v will make a fine addition to your arsenal of mobile gadgets. After paying $1,139, Palm will give you a Wi-Fi card worth $119 and a Palm Power Pack worth $200 that includes a vehicle charger, screen protector, battery, cradle kit and three spare stylus.
Panasonic Booth
The Panasonic SDR-S10 is an ultra compact digital video camcorder. Despite its size it boasts 10x optical zoom and is water resistant.

The Panasonic Plasma TH-50PV70H is going only for $4999 and has a $100 Robinsons voucher and $100 NTUC voucher thrown in free.
Philips' Booth
We spotted an interesting Philips digital audio player - but mind you it isn't exactly cheap at $99 for the 2GB version.
From Singapore's best selling brand for LCD monitors between 2004 and 2006 comes the 17-inch 170C7FS with 5ms response time and a resolution of 1280 by 1024 pixels. Contrast ratio is 700:1 and it comes with dual input of DVI and VGA. Pay $309 and a DVI cable worth $69 will be thrown your way.
Higher up the scale is the 200WS8FB 20-inch widescreen monitor. This also boasts a fast 5ms response time but contrast ratio is higher at 800:1. Fork out $419 and you'll get a resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels, VGA & DVI inputs, and HDCP support. Free $69 DVI cable is standard.
If 20 inches is still not big enough for you, Philips has the $499 220WS8FB for your consideration. Contrast ratio is higher at 1000:1 while the rest of its specifications are identical to the 200WS8FB.
Pioneer's Booth
We saw this demo Blu-ray player at the last IT Show and here it is again. When will we see the actual retail version?
Pioneer's 50-inch High Definition plasma TV is going at $7999 with a host of free gifts valued at $3300. However, only 5 sets are available at this price so hurry before they are all gone.
Prolink's Booth
Latest from Prolink is the PRO198 19-inch widescreen LCD monitor. For $339, you'll be getting a solid bundle that includes the monitor with 8ms pixel response time, 700:1 contrast ratio, and the PML095G, a 2.4GHz wireless laser mouse.
Splash out a bit more and you'll be looking at the PRO201TW 20.1-inch widescreen LCD monitor that is also a television. At $388, the $49 price difference gets you a TV tuner and one more inch of viewing space.
Also new is this 22-inch widescreen LCD monitor cum television. At just $488, the PRO221TW is one of the best deals to come from Prolink.
Razer's Booth
For those who are just starting to find their groove in gaming, the Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue and Razer DeathAdder would be irresistible deals to you. The former comes with free Protools while the latter is bundled with a free Mantis mousepad.
Answering the wishes of professionals who wanted a classier color and finishing to that of the Razer Diamondback is the Razer Pro|Click v1.6 mouse. It's only going for $59 and it comes with a matching white Propad mouse pad to boot.
Seagate's Booth
It's obvious that Seagate is touting one product lineup over the rest at the PC Show.
With sizes ranging from 250GB to 500GB, Seagate's FreeAgent Desktop external hard drives provide easy backup at affordable prices starting from $169 for 250GB. Just for the PC Show, there's an instant cash rebate of $20 and a lucky dip. A 5-year warranty is included.
For those needing greater backup capacity, Maxtor's OneTouch III series has up to 1.5TB of capacity, but that will cost you $799. A more modest 320GB version meanwhile will cost a reasonable $229. However, the 1-year warranty may not be the best deal all things considered.
Samsung's Booth
We STRONGLY recommend that you wear light clothing and padded shoes to PC Show 2007 because it is crowded beyond your wildest imagination. You've been warned...
The CLP-300 is what Samsung dubbed as the world's smallest color laser printer and judging by the size of the thing, they do have a strong point. It prints 16ppm (mono) and 4ppm (color), all being absolutely quiet at 48dBA while it is rolling out printed pages. The promotional price of $299 is limited to the first 300 customers and valid only if you buy 1 set of CMYK toner.
The Samsung DVDP171 DVD player supports progressive scan, MP3, WMA and JPEG, and it's only going for $89.
For $10 more, the DVDP370 gives you add DiVX format support.
Newly released is the Samsung i70 digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 7.2-megapixel. It comes with a big 3.0-inch LCD, which is just as well considering it's also a portable media player. $599 gets you a 2GB memory card and battery plus an unknown free gift exclusive to PC Show 2007.
Home and small businesses have every reason to consider the ML1610 mono laser printer that's only going for $99! It's compact and prints 16ppm.
It may not entertain you as much as the i70, but the NV10 is more than capable of impressing you with stunning pictures with its 10-megapixel sensor that's mated to Schneider-KREUZNACH lens. It even comes with the same freebies. Nice.
If the design of the i70 doesn't suit you, there's the cheaper NV3. Everything is about the same except that it has a smaller 2.5-inch screen and is $100 cheaper.
At $389, the SCX-4521F 5-in-1 multi-function mono laser printer represents incredible value. It performs scanning, printing, copying, faxing and also PC faxing, and it comes with a cool 3-year onsite warranty.
The YP-K3 is only 6.95mm thick and yet Samsung managed to squeeze in an FM radio, alarm clock and photo slideshow capabilities. Playback time of 25 hours is impressive no less. Prices are $178, $218 and $318 for 1, 2 and 4GB respectively. Each purchase entitles you to a leather case, screen protector and AC adapter worth a total of $48.80.
Sharp's Booths
Sharp sure knew how to pull in the crowd - they were letting customers enjoy the Nintendo Wii on their LCD TVs. Customers who purchase a 46-inch and above AQUOS LCD TV receives a Nintendo Wii worth $647 (additional controller and game included) - sweet!
We could resist but to take a picture of Sharp's 65-inch LCD TV mounted at the top right hand corner. The 42-inch LCD TV by its side suddenly seems so small compared to the $29,999 monster.
Sony Ericsson's Booths
Sony Ericsson was present in the form of a booth operated by Carrefour. Here are the phones available, with its Walkman series of mobile phones probably quite popular among the young.

Sony's Booth
Though it isn't a 1080p LCD TV, this Sony bundle at Courts' booth is too attractive not to be mentioned. For $3,399, you'll not only get the 40-inch flat panel but also a complete home theatre system, installation and exclusive gifts. It's certainly a good deal if you aren't particularly fussy about pursuing visual difference between 720p and 1080p.
The barebone Sony DSLR-A100 is already great value but the DSLR-A100W at $1,899 makes it even better by throwing in a telephoto zoom lens in addition to a standard 18-70mm lens.
Sony was relatively late getting serious about DVD recorders. They hope to attract consumers with a competitive price of $369.
The higher end RDR-HX720 features a decent if slightly small hard drive of 160GB. The price however may be a sticking point.
Sony's $3499 handheld PC uses a Core 2 Solo processor running at 1.33GHz. For such a small device, it has a 40GB hard drive and 1GB of DDR2 memory. Battery life is rated at an impressive 3hrs.
Full HD 1080p recording is what you can expect from the Sony HDR-UX5E. It's selling at $1799, $200 off its usual price at the PC Show.
The higher end model, the HDR-UX7E boasts a 6,1 megapixel camera and a larger screen. The cost is also higher at $2499.
Aimed at the young and trendy, the colorful Vaio C series is probably the most affordable notebooks from Sony, with prices starting from $1799.
We saw this strange Fusion PC from Sony before. The specs, including a Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5600 and the 1GB of DDR2 memory is decent enough, while the Windows Vista operating system provides eye candy. We just aren't sure how many practical Singaporeans will pay $3099 for it.
StarHub's Booth
Not exactly the most enticing of deals from StarHub MaxOnline. For those who prefer more discounts, there's an alternative of choosing 20% off your monthly subscription and a free cable modem.
Digital TV deals are all fine and dandy but with StarHub's HD channels still in infancy, we think programming is more important at this stage.
Toshiba's Booth
One of Toshiba's 'Must-have' gadgets, this Dynadock Universal USB docking station allows you to connect multiple USB devices through one central avenue, thereby reducing cable clutter.
The price tag may say $2199 but there's an instant cash rebate of $200 for this Toshiba Satellite. Toshiba also gives consumers the choice of a free upgrade to Windows Vista Basic.
Toshiba's Qosmio range is known for its multimedia capabilities and the F30-P540 is no exception, possessing a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics chipset, 1.5GB of system memory and a 100GB SATA hard drive. Then there is the integrated TV tuner, remote control and QosmioPlayer for instant-on multimedia entertainment. With a $300 cash rebate, this 15.4-inch notebook will cost $2999.
Toshiba is throwing in a choice of colorful decals like the one shown here for every notebook purchased.
This external 2.5-inch hard drive costs $179 and has a capacity of 80GB, making it quite competitive with other brands like Seagate and Western Digital.
Trend Micro's Booth
Trend Micro's Internet Security application was on the average about $10 cheaper than usual. A typical family should be adequately covered by the minimum 3PC package costing $79. A free pair of speakers and headset worth $30 is also included.

Miscellaneous Sightings 1
The ultimate home theatre experience is now possible with the D-Box, a firm specializing in creating motion simulation devices, namely chairs and loveseats. Prices are of course considerable, though the company does have a Universal Motion Platform that can be customized to fit your existing chair. That will reduce some of the cost but expect a five-figure sum nevertheless.
A demonstration unit of the motion simulator seat is found at the Pioneer booth, where you can test it out for yourself.
Ban Leong's booth at #1760 had many accessories for sale, including a comprehensive range of Everglide products.
The popular Logitech MX518 gaming mouse is back at the PC Show. For those who have missed it at previous shows, the price remains the same at $39.90.
We spotted some unbranded digital photo frames that while still relatively expensive are actually well priced when placed side by side with more established brands. Going for $139, this 7-inch digital photo frame can play JPEGs, MP3s, MP4s and AVI videos.
We did manage to catch the latest memory prices from PC Connect and boy were they competitive. The 4GB Toshiba USB Flash Drive with U3 Technology for $59.90 isn't too bad a deal.
Miscellaneous Sightings 2
Memory prices are really competitive at tradeshows like PC Show 2007. Of course a picture like the one above from Sandisk's booth speaks a thousand words - or two.
Shure's latest range of sound isolating earphones is being sold with prices starting at $279 for the SE210 and $799 for the top-of-the-line SE530. A free TEVO travel adapter worth $49.90 is given to every purchase of either the SE210 or SE310 while an AVLabs Bluetooth speaker worth $139 is given away with each purchase of the SE530.
