The best tech deals online

In better times, this week would have been the PC Show. Still, there's no need to feel down because we’ve just exited the circuit breaker and it made to Phase 1 on our road to recovery. Slowly but surely we can get there.

However, with large-scale gatherings and events still banned, it means we can't have a physical tech show event yet. So we have done the next best thing, which is to scour all across e-stores to bring you the latest and greatest offers that we can find.

So stay safe, sit back and relax, and shop from the comfort of your home. Are you ready? Let's start with mobile devices and wearables.

Apple iPad Pro (11-inch, Wi-Fi + Cellular, 2018)

The official Apple storefront on Lazada runs some pretty neat discounts, which is quite unlike their regular online store at their main website and domain. The 11-inch iPad Pro featured here is the late-2018 model, given that it packs the A12X Bionic chip with Neural Engine and the new all-screen redesign, as well as the single-rear camera. The Wi-Fi + Cellular version with 64GB retails at S$1,419, but you can now pick it up at S$1,279 (almost 10% off) on the official Lazada store. If 64GB’s not enough, the 256GB and 512GB are also on sale via the same listing, too.

Huawei P30

The Google Mobile Services-capable Huawei P30 needs no introduction. This flagship-tier smartphone packs a 40-megapixel main shooter backed by a Sony sensor, alongside a host of other secondary shooters like an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x hybrid zoom and 30x digital zoom, and an ultra-wide-angle 15-megapixel camera. Unlike most flagships, however, it still boasts a 3.5mm audio jack port. At launch, it was S$998, but you can now get the 8GB RAM, 128GB storage version at S$608 (an incredible 39% off) on the official Huawei store at Shopee and Lazada. There are very limited pieces left, so move fast.

You can read our coverage on the Huawei P30 here. Take note that the offered model isn't the more famous Pro model though.

Nokia 7 Plus

The Nokia 7 Plus is a 2018 model with a near bezel-less 6-inch Full HD+ display (2,160 x 1,080 pixels resolution). On the rear, it’s a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixels primary camera and a 13-megapixel zoom camera with 2x optical zoom and ZEISS optics. The body is machined from a single block of 6000 series aluminium, so durability is the strongest selling point of this device. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor powers it. At launch, it was S$599, but you can get it at S$239 (60% off!) from the official Nokia store on Lazada.

OnePlus 7 Pro (8GB RAM + 256GB storage)

The OnePlus 7 Pro is the brand’s 2019 flagship device, touting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. It also packs a generous 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display at QHD+ (3,120 x 1,440 pixels resolution) and 90Hz refresh rate with HDR10 and HDR 10+ support. Perhaps what stood out was the notch-less screen, given that OnePlus adopted a pop-up front camera which automatically retracts when you accidentally drop the device. There are several RAM + storage variants of the OnePlus 7 Pro. In particular, the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version typically retails at S$1,099, but it’s now only S$829 (about 25% off) on the official OnePlus store at Lazada.

Oppo Reno2

Oppo’s mid-range phones helped define what premium mid-rangers can truly be. There’s the Reno2, which packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset beneath its 6.5-inch AMOLED display rated at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels resolution. The camera systems on the Reno2 are quite a lot to behold, with a fin-styled pop-up front camera rated at 16-megapixels, and a quad rear camera with a 48-megapixels shooter (main), a 13-megapixels telephoto lens, an 8-megapixels wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixels mono lens. The 8GB RAM + 256GB storage phone typically retails at S$899, but you can get it at just S$699 (around 22% off) on the official Oppo store at Lazada.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 LTE

The Samsung Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch has an LTE-compatible version that comes in a stainless steel case and sleek leather straps. It has all the core features found on its Bluetooth sibling, such as Bixby support, Samsung Pay, and a host of workout activities. The NumberShare service provided by our local big three telcos (M1, Singtel, StarHub) allows you to share your mobile data allotment with your LTE-capable smartwatch. The version with the 44mm watch face retails typically at S$648, but the official Samsung store on Shopee now has it at just S$558 (almost 14% off the usual price). To sweeten the deal, there’s free shipping and a free wireless battery pack (worth S$98) thrown in, too.

Other flagship features include its in-screen fingerprint sensor, NFC functionality, and a triple rear camera setup led by a 64-megapixel primary shooter, followed by a 13-megapixels wide-angle camera, and a 13-megapixel telescopic camera. Originally at S$1,299, it can now be picked up for just S$999 (about 23% off) from the Vivo official store located on Lazada.
