Sneak Peek - Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6

On the other end of the scale, we’ve got a glimpse of Gigabyte's upcoming NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI board as well and this one is a real over-engineered monster. Depending on how much of a feature geek you dare to admit to yourself, the Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 will either give you wet dreams or nightmares. When you combine all the 'Durable' and 'Quad' features from the original GA-965P-DQ6 motherboard, the NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI plus everything else Gigabyte can cram onto the PCB, you get the motherload that is the GA-N680SLI-DQ6.

Its list of features apart from the already extensive nForce 680i SLI chipset are two additional SATA 3.0Gbps controllers for a total of ten SATA ports (RAID and eSATA capable), a whopping four Gigabit LAN ports (that can operate independently or as a pair of 2Gb teamed links), triple PCIe x16, HD Audio, FireWire-400 and a 12-phase PWM. There are only a few working samples at the moment, but Gigabyte has mentioned that the board is already quite stable with no known compatibility issues even with all onboard features enabled.

From far, the Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 isn't that imposing.

Seven expansion slots in total, also heavy on PCI.

Lower portion of the board, again with full solid capacitors like all Gigabyte Durable series boards.

Even with the nForce 680i SLI, we have not one but two additional SATA 3.0Gbps controllers.

An updated SilentPipe setup and yes, this DQ6 also sports a crazy 12-phase power circuitry.

Even the rear CrazyCool panel is now linked with a heat-pipe.

An unprecedented total of Four Gigabit LAN ports in a motherboard or a pair of 2GB teams, your pick.

If you don't believe us, check out the rear panel. That's right, four RJ45 ports.
