Far and away the fastest graphics card in the 3DMark benchmarks was the GeForce 8600 GTS which seemed to be in another league (but not quite there yet). Besides the GTS, the GT variant was pretty fast against the other comparisons, which showed a distinct performance lead of up to 20% at some resolutions. This gap widened in 3DMark06 to more than 30%. So far, the designated heir to the successful GeForce 7600 GT seemed to be doing all right. It was a different story for the GeForce 8500 GT as it struggled against its rivals. To be fair, the GeForce 7600 GS was initially a mid-range card but the prices between them are actually very close presently so we have included it. Also, the GeForce 7300 GT was not far behind the GeForce 8500 GT and we believe one of the more powerful variants (i.e. a DDR3 version) may just eclipse this new arrival.
