5G was all the buzz at MWC Shanghai 2019, with companies like ZTE showing off all manner of futuristic inventions; like this robot you see here. This moves perfectly in sync with its controller thanks to a stable 5G connection, almost like robots in the Gundam cartoons we watched as kids! 5G would also allow for use outdoors too!

Of course, a good number of autonomous vehicles were on display too. Call them embodiments of the promise of 5G letting you go further perhaps. Whether it's in the sky, or on the sea/river, you can send drones out and control them all via 5G.

Don't look now, but here's Huawei's mock-up of how their 5G-powered systems can be applied to a vehicle of the future. Music, traffic conditions, weather, and of course the speed limit as well as the status of the upcoming traffic light can all be displayed in real-time.

Nokia was also at the show, and one of their solutions involved a 5G gateway with three other beacons in the home. The beacons not only improved coverage by acting as repeaters, but also helped proved real-time interference resolution, and detected deadspots in the home thus helping you get maximum coverage.

Probably wouldn't expect an SD card maker at a telecoms conference, but there SanDisk was, showing off their latest microSD express card. This is supposed to provide both PCIe and NVMe technologies while being capable of reaching speeds up 818.5MB/s and 488.9MB/s as seen above. That's impressive as far as expandable storage options go and is certainly speedier than some SSD drives.

Here's ZTE's 5G Axion smartphone at work, casting an intense fighting game on a large screen. The rendering is all done by the cloud and sent to the phone via a 5G network, so the phone only has to cast the visuals to TV. Impressive!

Not quite 5G, but here's a cute smartwatch for kids by China Mobile. Packing a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor that supports 4G LTE, the phone is supposedly one of the first mobile devices to support the Watch QQ app so your child can chat with his friends and you can easily get to him or her. This also has a built-in tracking system so you can always find out where your child is.
