MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Super World of Warcraft Edition in pictures: A very special edition graphics card

In celebration of World of Warcraft's 20th Anniversary and the release of The War Within, MSI has released a special edition GeForce RTX 4070 Super. For the unwary, the packaging is smartly designed in a manner you would expect from a video game and not a graphics card.

Included in this special edition is, of course, the RTX 4070 Super card and 10 very cool puzzle-style backplates that you can use to customise the graphics card.

Each backplate depicts a different World of Warcraft expansion story, and you can customise your favourite story combinations to your preference (which you will see later).

The backplates themselves are made of metal and each comes with a high-quality printed design that are reminiscent of the respective expansion's box art.

Based on the same MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12G Gaming Slim (why do some brands like to create names that make us go breathless from pronouncing them?) graphics card, the World of Warcraft Edition is inspired by the game's iconic colours of the Alliance (sorry Horde).

There are some very unique details too, such as the "20" symbols on each of the three fans that symbolise the 20th anniversary of the MMORPG.

The back of the card also features some cool markings from the game. Boring, you say? That's what the 10 magnetic backplates that come with the card are for.

And now the card looks pretty gorgeous, in my opinion, and would look wonderful in any PC case. My only gripe here is that MSI missed the mark on not adding some form of lighting.

Here's a closer view. It's a very unique way to customise your graphics card, and I hope to see more personalisation options like this.

I didn't get to power up the card yet, but there's RGB coming out from the MSI logo when it's turned on.

MSI has included a support bracket that not only matches the card's colour, but also sports the 20th anniversary logo of the game too.

The MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12G Gaming Slim World of Warcraft Edition might be a tad late to retail, given how all the hype now is on NVIDIA's next generation GeForce RTX 50 series. But if you're a huge Warcraft fan, this one is a keeper and is available for S$1,234.20, with a 3-year warranty covered by local distributor Corbell.
