The latest from Canon in pictures: Introducing the EOS 6D Mark II and the EOS 200D
Canon just had an official launch of the EOS 6D Mark II and the EOS 200D. Here's all you need to know about the new cameras in pictures.
- EOS 6D Mark II (Body only) - S$2,899
- Camera with 24-70 L IS lens - S$3,949
- Camera with 24-105 L IS II lens - S$4,299
The 24.2MP EOS 200D is Canon’s latest entry-level DSLR. It comes in a choice of Trendy White or Sophisticated Silver, and weighs just 406g while measuring 122.4 x 92.6 x 69.8mm.
Pricing and availability of the EOS 200D wasn't yet announced, but we’ll be sure to update this piece once we get word. Expected availability period is some time in August.
Despite being small for a DSLR class camera, there’s a pretty nice and deep grip. The camera's ISO range also goes up to 25,600 (extended).
It also features Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity with Bluetooth low energy technology so the camera can maintain a constant connection with your smartphone.
A knurled mode dial selector lets you easily shift between modes, while the movie record button is just large enough to feel for without having to look.
Next up, was the 26.2MP EOS 6D Mark II. This is Canon’s latest full-frame camera. It comes with a 45-point all cross-type AF system, Dual Pixel CMOS AF and a DIGIC 7 imaging processor and weighs just 685g while measuring 144.0 x 110.5 x 74.8mm.
It now comes with a handy Vari-angle touch panel so you can easily take pictures and video and run through the menus. As you can see, you can choose to make it more sensitive or to disable it completely.
That makes it especially handy when paired with the Q menu, as you can simply tap your way through the settings.
It still has just one memory card slot though (that takes an SDHC UHS-1 card), so you can't do in-camera backup.
On the video front, the EOS 6D Mark II strangely lacks the option to do 4K video recording despite having a 4K timelapse feature. It maxes out at Full HD 50p capture.
Video snapshot and Movie digital IS features are available for movie capture though, so that should add to the versatility.
The EOS 6D Mark II will do a top continuous shooting speed of 6.5 fps with stills, and 4.0 fps when shooting in Live View mode.
The native ISO range now reaches 40,000 and is expandable to 102,400.
The EOS 6D Mark II will be available at authorized Canon dealers from 27 July 2017 at the following recommended retail prices:-
Pre-orders from 13 July to 26 July will be entitled to a free Canon professional camera bag pack (S$289).
